OMG Politics, I'm over it already.

On another site, I made the prediction after Trump called a whole slew of press people to meet with him, and basically spent the entire time berating them, that he had made a powerful, powerful enemy in the press. Just like Nixon, who had a famously contentious relationship with the press, and whom the press found the dirt on that allowed him to be forced out of office, you do not fuck with the press as a whole if you're a politician.

Look at the outpouring of stories from a wide variety of outlets exposing the crazy turmoil this first week of this jackass' presidency has caused, this is just the first volley of the press against Trump.

He made his bed of newspapers, and he's gonna have to lie in it.

one can only hope (and pray, if you're so inclined).

Thats what I'm figuring but thats not even really that big of a deal. He did a story based on documents that were most likely faked and fed to him. He didn't seem to handle it very well but after six decades of "real" journalism this is what they hang him with?

Well, it's a heck of a lot easier to discredit the person making the argument than to take on the argument itself where you have little ground to stand on.

I had to take a "Logic and Critical Thinking" class last spring and the entire time I was thinking "hey, this should be taught in the 8th grade and not college". We'd have a much better world.

The whole disgraced/discredited charge against enemies in THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA is a huge talking point on the tinfoil hat Internet. Alex Jones et al. WILL NOT SHUT UP ABOUT IT.

Whenever I see those words in a headline, I start immediately scanning for telltale signs of WAKE UP SHEEPLE.

I had a logic class in 9th grade I think. Maybe 10th. At a Jesuit high school. One of my favorite classes.

If Dan Rather is "disgraced", then what is Alex Jones?

They were replaying an appearance by him form 2013 on Howard Stern yesterday. I just read your post in that fucking voice of his. :annoyed:

I'd like to think so but my view of the struggle between rational thinking & emotional response is pretty dim theses days.

w/r/t Dan Rather, it wasn't so much that the error was a huge deal but at the time he was probably Americas' most trusted news anchor & his defense of the docs, in light of the criticisms, just broke that trust more. After leaving CBS he languished on cable-only AXS Tv for a few years trying to rebuild his field reporter cred and has done a pretty good job of staying in the political conversation w/ TV guest appearances & articles online.

I've listened to, conservatively, about 200 hours of his programs and documentaries. Because I am genuinely interested in that worldview and what makes it tick.

It's a compelling, entertaining way to see yourself and your country and the future. It's based on legitimate interest in history and human potential. It's also batshit and ill-informed and shot through with political and philosophical understandings gleaned mostly from Star Wars and Lord of the Rings and maybe the Matrix if you're gonna get really intellectual.

Jones is a smart, energetic, dedicated dude...doing evil, dumb stuff because of his own anti intellectual bias and ego and CRAZED ideas about gender and masculinity.

That said, he's a near-genius when it comes to unhinged gonzo rhetoric. Like Hunter Thompson at his peak levels of great argle bargle.

I've also watched/listened to a lot of similar stuff made by way less interesting people who are way less good at it. There's a reason Jones is a star and has done work on the periphery of Hollywood. He's a talented dude. He's also bonkers and/or an intelligence agency plant/shill.
