I believe that you reported the wrong post, and that you did so out of dislike for me. Which I can totally 100% absolutely live with.
No, my report was on no way motivated by any personal feelings towards you, one way or the other...it was simply motivated by my objection to the tone of a single post...

Matt, my opinion of you has always been ambivalent...on the one hand I have a great respect for your intellect, and an even deeper respect for your attitude and zest for life in the face of overwhelming physical challenges...your courage in the face of it is admirable and sometimes difficult for me to understand...

But I must admit that all of that is tempered by what I see as an overriding arrogance on your part in the manner you approach many of us, and not just in this thread...

I also admit I did not see a post using the derogatory term as you describe...I do not believe that it would have changed my opinion of your post, but it most certainly would have changed my opinion of the other party involved...perhaps it would have been more beneficial had you reported that post rather than react in the manner you chose...

As to whether or not I "like" you as a person it is impossible to quantify...I have never met you in person or spoken to you beyond our interactions on this forum...who knows, we may actually find a great friend in each other if we ever do come face to face...in the meantime I will continue to reserve judgement along those lines, and would appreciate the same courtesy from you...

One of the primary reasons I have recused myself from regular posting in this thread was the way it was beginning to color my opinions of those I have met, and my perceptions of those I have not...I will continue to recuse myself for those reasons...

Be well, sir...no matter what you may believe, my respect for you will continue unaltered by this event...

Unfortunately the world doesn't work that way on a corporate or personal level....If it did, we wouldn't be hemorging manufacturing jobs in the first place & we'd still have mom and pop hardware stores rather than Walmart and home depot.

These are multinational/global companies working with other multinational/global companies on projects in the 300 million plus range. Sure we could have insisted on all usa source material and labor and bid the project 25 million higher than our competitors...Guess who isn't getting the work? Sure, the government could dictate a requirement for USA source parts and labor on the project and the company building the plant would say screw that, we will build it in Mexico and ship the refined product over the border into the states. Guess who's still not getting the work?

There's no magic wand here to fix this

well then, i guess we just go ahead and become a third world country with no jobs and no middle class. just the uber rich and everyone else poor.
the greedy corps are gonna rape this country until there's nothing left, except their nice houses and mercedeses.

Howdy folks. This next rant is about blowing off steam in general and not directed at anyone here. I feel the need to preach to some choir members while fully acknowledging that not everyone here goes to the same "church".

So...Trump is censoring the dissemination of information coming out of the USDA and EPA today. They, specifically the scientists in both departments, are no longer allowed share research findings with the public or use any social media tools. He's also issued and executive order to proceed with the Dakota pipeline, negating President Obama's protection thereof.

And let's not act like this is the only stuff he's done since Friday folks. We know massive parts of his plans to become more aggressive about the U.S. vs everyone globally. Further to this broader agenda, he talked about how we should have taken Iraq's oil when we went to war with them and overthrew their government, adding that we may end up doing that again in a way that hinted U.S. aggression related to nations with oil. All of this in a clouded lack of understanding about what how ISIS was founded. Apparently it wasn't Hillary and President Obama, it was Dubya since he didn't take Iraq's oil.

And the pipeline isn't just about oil, it's also about the indigenous culture(s) of this nation that (despite a whole hearted genocidal effort of previous iterations of our government) has an explicit agreement with our government that protected their lands. An agreement that oil companies and new president regret feel is less important than increasing their ludicrous wealth...which has always been far more important than respecting cultures. Of course, this cultural disrespect is no surprise given the message of his campaign and many of the folks that supported and voted for him. Similarly, disregarding contracts and agreements...that's the Dumpster's M.O. since he started running his businesses.

So the lack of respect for our environment, global community, and the melting pot of cultures that are the very foundation of our nation ALONG with his cronyism with oil interests (that put the financial gain of their peers above historical policy) and other unqualified billionaires that he's attempting to appoint to cabinet positions that they are as unfit for as he is the presidency is MORE than enough for me to have issue with the man.

And take about hypocrisy?! Could he and his supporters be anymore thin-skinned about criticism? Unpossible. I'm really sad that so many felt angry about not being able to publicly call President Obama the n-word and felt their hypocritical take on Christianity was under attack...actually I'm not...but Trump is not the answer and never will be.

I'm over the fact that he won, but I'll practice my First Amendment right to criticize him and/or his actions as I see fit.

They've been doing it for a couple hundred years.
Now, however, they're gonna kick it into overdrive.

Yeah, I saw a headline about it yesterday. He's trying his hand at Conway-like deflection. Harp on that to distract from the still undeniable Russian interference that likely had some real sway on the election. You'd think he'd drop it since he won, but he can't stand losing anything. He's a fucking child.

The first (and sadly hidden) rule of medical debt is to request a "spin down". The difference can be between 20% to 40% less than the hospital billed you for, and can sometimes be negotiated to even lower amounts.

Also, health insurance companies usually send you a bill on the costs they've already covered. Some people panic and pay this bill. Double dipping is a regular practice by health insurance. My wife caught them attempting this just 2 weeks ago. Once confronted by phone, they said, "Oh, disregard that invoice. Everything has already been paid." What they didn't say is that the invoice was sent out just a day before they paid the claim.

That is why I never pay medical bills until they are about to go to collection. I almost paid 1800.00 or an MRI that was actually covered despite 5 notices. Turns out it was covered, but I know damn well if I had sent a check I never would have seen a dime of it back.

That's the intent, yes.

that's awesome.
too bad they can't make the software automatically "strike out" incorrect info right on his tweet. man would THAT piss him off. real time, as he types it or instantly after he "sends" the tweet, it comes up with red strike outs and corrections.

Twitter could do that if they wanted. They and other tech co's have said they will work to fight fake news. Why not start at the top. Any twitter users should pound on them until they do it. I would, but I don't twit either.

That's what I like about my high deductible plan. There's no question of things being covered, I just know they won't be.

The can still reproduce in a healthy manner but the tax payer doesn't have to pay for killing what ever you call it (blob, DNA drip, Fallopian tube clog) stuck in their belly. I'm certain anyone can find a tax write off by donating to the abortion clinics of you choice where ever you like and that's what it should be, your choice. But it's not my choice and this is a choice I like having back.

No federal funding to planned parenthood goes to ANY abortion services. But don't let that stop you from posting alternative facts.

Also, I get why so many didn't like Hillary.

I still cannot understand why any decent and intelligent person would have ever liked Trump.

All things being equal and he was running as and won the candidacy for the Democrats, I never would have voted for the guy. Spent the first 27 years of my life living in NY (mostly in Westchester county...Ossining, Pleasantville, Peekskill/Cortlandt Manor) and he has almost always been synonymous with the shittiest and vilest of businessmen. He has no family values and never had religion (not that that's good or bad) before he decided to run for President...which I do not believe he ever wanted to win and his own words reveal as much. So much of what he sold to conservatives and their constituents was bullshit and they still refuse to either see it or admit that they see it...or worse aren't bright enough to comprehend.

Yeah Hillary was "demon" or whatever other equally bullshit "alternate facts" the far right needed to sell and believe to vote against her. Trump is a shitty person that has only ever been interested in what benefits him. As such this is an errantly successful publicity stunt that he will use to try and increase his earnings and public presence. Watch as all the executive orders work to benefit his friends and the holdings that he's never going to fully separate from. His planned TV network will eventually come into being and he'll monetize post-presidential offerings like no past group of presidents ever did or tried to.

Good luck to us all...we really fucking need it.

actually, i believe it's really only been this way since the industrial revolution. before that it was just kings and large land holders.
Not to quibble, but the industrial revolution started in the late 1700s, right?
