I am not sure the size of the vehicle we use to haul stuff made in china home from costco qualifies us as first world. I am not sure about what we excel at other than consumerism any more.
EDIT: Ok, that is a little dark. But sometimes I do feel that way, painting with a very broad brush. Many exceptions to that statement. But, I did move away from the greater Seattle suburbia to get away from "mall world", which to me is not just a place but they way a lot of people live, based on their priorities.

I hope he also pardons Bowe Bergdahl. (disclosure, I know the family and have some personal feelings. don't know Bowe personally though.) The kid made a mistake which I believe was based in naivete and poor judgment, but paid in spades. We (as a country) are wasting time and money continuing to deal with this. Send him home.

Pardoning Chelsea Manning is a slap in the face to anyone who ever served in our military, me included. Absolutely erases any goodwill I ever felt towards Obama.
As for Bergdahl, he abandoned his post on foreign soil and put soldiers at risk during wartime. I've read that people died looking for him. Mistakes have consequences and his certainly did.
