3500?

That's like.... I can't think of an analogy
Let's provoke them with the least possible amount of effort.

No disrespect to those troops, but it seems like 3500 is akin to zero in this case.
I'd be scared or embarrassed. "Yeah. It's just us. Sorry about the silliness. Just following orders. Can we just agree that it's funny. Maybe punch me and I'll kick you and we'll report that we engaged and call it a day? Beers are on me."

you wann know what REALLY is beginning to piss me off?

that in the next few months we'll be going to war in europe and i'll never get to use the new golf clubs i just ordered.....

Won't be a problem, you're too old to get drafted...

In fact, it will be easier for you and I to get tee times.

You guys are just getting hung up on the negative aspects.

Like - think how much less traffic there will be!

No lines at the DMV

The good news is I am 27 miles to DC (and that is driving, much closer as the crow flies) so I will wiped out fast.

And as we enter into uncertain and frightening times as a country, a time when (ostensibly) racist votes were triumphant in our national election, it’s easy to see this as one more example of how our president elect is fueling and empowering racists to feel emboldened to do and say whatever they want. After all as Crichton proudly told the police, “he would be happy to go to jail over the issue and proudly admitted to calling Ford a n***. Then he added disgustingly that he is ‘fed up with black people.’ ” And that kind of open anger and lack of shame is frightening. Crichton genuinely seemed to think there would be no consequences to his horrific words. And why would he? He had gotten away with it in the past.

While there is no excuse for Crichton, and he absolutely should have lost the franchise, I'm not sure shutting it down was the best way to go. I'm sure that DQ had some good people working there who need that paycheck and now they have no jobs. When I was a manager for a national pizza chain, franchises could be taken over by corporate, I'm not sure DQ has that policy, but if so, they should have taken it over. Hopefully those folks find jobs or someone picks up that franchise and hopefully Crichton ends up unemployed for the rest of his life.

Yeah guys, because suddenly there's an uptick in racial incidents in the U.S. - must be Trump's fault for inspiring these morons.

Really?

Gimme a f-in break please. None of this is new nor is it news. People have been racists since they discovered "race" was a thing. It's wrong, it's reprehensible and it's not going away. It didn't go away (or get better) under Obama and it ain't going away now. The best you can do is shame the idiots who act like that and put them in their place - people can change.

You are 100% correct that racism has existed for the entire history of the US and it isn't new. I don't think you can deny Trump used it to gain votes and when the person who gets elected president has said things and done things like mocking the handicapped reporter it makes people with those leanings think it is ok to publicly express their racists views, they feel somehow validated. On the other side, when an African-American president is successful, it also brings the racists out. Some of the comments I have seen about Michelle Obama are downright disgusting. I honestly don't think a first lady has been denigrated more than her (unless you count Clinton, but that was mostly after she was first lady). I don't remember race being in the news when W was president, but that was a while ago and I am getting old, the memory ain't what it used to be. Maybe the press has been ratcheting it up in the wake of Trumps run, but it seems that there are more and more stories in the last year than the years before.

To piggy back on Chad's point, my disappointment with Donald Trump, in this circumstance, is that while I don't think he himself is a racist, he did not tackle the alt-right/race issue head on during the election & his public rejection of racism and bigotry has been tepid at best since his victory.

According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, there's been a profound effect since this election

There indeed has been a spike in the number of reports of such incidents, say representatives for two organizations that track such occurrences. A representative for one group, in fact, said the rise appears to be even worse that what was took place immediately after the terror attacks in 2001.

"Since the election, we've seen a big uptick in incidents of vandalism, threats, intimidation spurred by the rhetoric surrounding Mr. Trump's election," Richard Cohen, president of the Southern Poverty Law Center in Montgomery, Ala., told USA TODAY. "The white supremacists out there are celebrating his victory and many are feeling their oats," Cohen said.
