w/r/t incidents tapering off since the election I would think that's expected as institutions (school authorities, police, etc) respond to the incidents, if they are working as intended.

Sure, the more incidents are reported & re-reported, it increases our perception of the frequency. Same reason so many people think our country in its peak of violent crime when the opposite it true. But in this case, it's hard not to see the correlation of events as ridiculous people use the election as a justification for their behavior.

now his daughter and son in law are both senior advisors with white house offices while they run his businesses.

It was just announced that Ivanka is leaving her Trump business jobs—including in her Ivanka company. And the Kushner appointment announcement also noted that Ivanka won’t have a formal role in the administration. Supposedly Kushner “is prepared to resign from his business and divest substantial assets, including foreign investments, before taking a White House position.”, but we’ll see what really happens.

I don't think it is possible for Donald Trump or any member of his family to truly divest themselves of their business interests but that was kinda the deal that came along with him as a candidate.
It's not like they are going to devote their life to public service from this point forward...there's always going to be current and future financial implications to their actions in government.
