Yeah, internet memes can be kind of cheap. But this one makes me smile, and think of Julie Andrews singing something like this whilst dancing thusly. (I know nothing of her politics. The mental image just makes me smile.)

So-cal gets a huge amount of 'their' water from the Sacramento river delta, through the Delta-Mendota canal. As for power, roughly half of the power consumed is from natural gas powered plants. Hydroelectric only accounts for a little more than 20% since we tend to go through droughts that limit our reliance on hydro. We probably utilize more alternative sources than most other states, especially solar and wind.


The feds would think twice about attacking us though, considering that we supply more than half of the fresh fruits, nuts and vegetables consumed by the other 49, and a very large percentage of dairy and beef. And we will cut off your access to quality porn as well.

Nope. The Republicans depend on CA's income tax to fund their tax cuts and subsidies to big business. Without CA tax money, the flyover Republican states would go bankrupt. CA provides something like 20% of the money that the US gives to the other states.

I think they would rather have permanent control over the presidency than tax revenue. They can find other ways to get the money. Plus the Dems losing 40 or so house seats and 2 senate seats would be yuge.

There aren't other ways of getting money that won't cost them votes. There is just no way that the rest of the US could live without being subsidized by CA without making very drastic changes.

Sure there is, CA has no army, they will need defense and that will cost money. Who better to defend them than the US Military? There is some of the 20% back and it didn't cost them a single vote.

Any states looking to secede had better have their own military. They're going to need it.
