Well I guess it's more or less official.

And the rose goes to....

Rex Tillerson, the chief executive of ExxonMobil for Secretary of State

&

Rick Perry as Energy Secretary

  :embarrassed:

Perry fits the pattern - put the guy who is a sworn enemy of the agency in charge of the agency.

So is the end game destroying the executive branch as we know it? Does the douche-in-chief elect think he's going to turn it into a royal position that he will hand down to his daughter or (worse) one of his sons?

Seriously, no one thinks we should have minimum qualifications for elected officials and their appointees?

He's not draining the swamp, he's just throwing out babies as if they were bath water. How the fuck is a reasonable person supposed to keep hoping for the best? We're pretty much fucked and the masses were too stupid to see it coming and just as stupid as the foundations are being laid out right in front of them.

In my lifetime, America has proven it's stupidity at every turn. Thinking we're better than this is delusional. Maybe as individuals we are, but we are demonstrably not as a country.

I don't know if I'd agree with that, but the Reagans were monsters, and '68 was a turning point. Look at RFK's speeches from that campaign; if a presidential nominee these days dared to quote Aeschylus from memory in a speech, they'd immediately be dismissed as hopeless elitist intellectuals.

I wasn't alive in '68, hence "in my lifetime". :embarrassed:

What can we expect from someone who had been a dictator (both business and personal) his entire adult life?
