Yeah, but that's the old-boy military private sector network. Be an officer in the military for about 20 years (or more) at supposedly well under market value for your skill set (conveniently ignoring the huge housing stipends or FREE housing, FREE health care...for them as our taxes foot that bill, the potential for free utilities and food...depending upon the aforementioned housing situation, etc.). Retire with a sweet retirement package and then go work in the private sector making two to four (or more) times your military salary, thanks to your security clearance and generally clear penchant for military actions.
These same people are generally very conservative and against social welfare programs. It cannot be stressed enough that huge numbers of them were in the military for decades and from military families. Appreciate they what they do all you want, but do not mistake that the military is a social welfare program...not entirely unlike the socialism that most conservatives vehemently abhor.
I feel like I know too many people that have or would kill people without prejudice based on the "team" they were playing for. Folks unwilling to question the justification, just point and shot. As most of them are officers, few have directly killed any individuals, but they have organized and ordered the deaths of many. Almost all of these people consider themselves Christians.
