Just because 2 pipelines have been approved recently doesn't mean that we aren't building fewer pipelines. And, a great deal of progress has been made in the last few years regarding renewable energy.

I don't mean "building fewer pipelines", I mean fewer total pipelines. And yes, renewables have made great strides over the past decade. I expect they'll continue to do so, with or without the Trump Administration's approval.
 
I'm totally in favour of renewable energy, and yeah I thankfully think it's slowly going to become the dominant source.

Unfortunately however oil and gas aren't going anywhere anytime soon, and pipelines can be more economic and safer than other transportation methods.

except for the issue of maintaining the pipelines. which only happens when there is a massive leak or an explosion. once they're in the ground, nobody bothers with them again, until there's a catastrophe.

Infrastructure issues are a major problem for our country. It's not just pipelines. I worked for a mechanical engineering firm for years. Things are pretty much fucked, especially in older cities.

Anyway safety and maintenance should be a top priority. Hell it should be absolutely mandatory and failure to comply should be severely punishable by law. But ya know $$$$$$$$$$$$

Yeah, I love these patriotic types that selectively choose what laws and philosophical underpinnings of our nation they choose to believe at a given time. In addition to being above the truth, the lie is now fact until proven otherwise. Fuck basic U.S. jurisprudence! Who needs that shit?!

I never realized there were so many people that literally do not understand the foundations of our nation's laws or the tenants of of our constitution. They have criminalized the fourth estate and are too obtuse to understand exactly how awful that is.
