You talking about the little yellow lever thing?nice! I like them, but not a fan of the takedown.
yep, that's it.You talking about the little yellow lever thing?
Thats what I've run into. Being new to this area I haven't explored much but South Carolina had nothing. My BIL reloads here so maybe he has some ideas. He just loads his hunting rounds though. I wanna do big 223 numbers at match grade levels specifically for my gun.
We're talking research and range time and hunting for deals. Im a bit of a bullet snob. Lol

I've seen that they can be taken down glock style without messing with the yellow release. I haven't tried it.yep, that's it.
Just picked this up recently. S&W Shield in 9mm. Too darn cold to go shooting though - might warm up next week.

Finally got to shoot it yesterday. Loved it, ran great, really accurate for such a little gun. I really like the ergonomics of it; it fit my hand well and pointed naturally. I'm a fanNice. Mrs. P and I both have Shield 9mms. She liked hers so much, she traded in her Kimber DC9 on a Shield .45. Pretty much the same gun, only in a .45. The Shield 9s have probably been the most consistent and reliable guns we've owned.
The Kimber DC9 was terrible, but the trade value meant that Mrs. P got her Shield .45, a holster, and box of .45 hollow points for $9.88 cash outlay.
Comes with a 6 and 7 round mag too. Pretty impressive.I did not know the Shields came in 45. Guess I found my next pocket cannon.
The shield models are pretty cool. I almost bought one last year. I'm tall/big enough that the M&P 40C was just as easy to conceal as the shield, and the C model fit my hand a little better than the thinner shield grip. I also have a bodyguard 380 (without the laser) for days when I don't or can't carry the compact. I pocket carry this one in a pocket holster. So, for me the shield kind of fell in between these two, but close enough to the C model that I went with that. I guess it is perfect for people that want/need a thin carry gun. I didn't know they now had a 45 shield now. That might be a really cool option, as there are not a lot of small frame guns in 45.
I've heard a lot of bad stories about the kimber DC series and the solo series of guns. Considering how great their 1911s are, and what they charge for their guns, you would expect a lot more from them. My M&P guns seem to feed damn near any ammo I put in in reliably. I think for the money they are hard to beat.
The .45 frame is maybe 1/4" longer than the 9mm. I'll try to remember to do some comparison pics when I get home. Finally got to shoot it yesterday. Loved it, ran great, really accurate for such a little gun. I really like the ergonomics of it; it fit my hand well and pointed naturally. I'm a fan
Funny, I'm a fond the .45, always have been. I'm now looking at a Shield in 45. From the YouTube vids and images online they look damn near the same size. That's a pretty impressive feat for a 45 ACP.
I've got a Kimber Micro Raptor .380 that's like a mini 1911. It's actually a nice little gun. The DC9 was pretty, but that's the only nice thing I can say about it. I'm not sure it ever made it through an entire magazine without either jamming or not returning to ready to fire position. Plus, the slide was so stiff, Mrs. P had trouble racking it.Solos are finiky with ammo. Kimber recently released a 1911 style micro 9 that's identical to the Sig P938 and is already pretty popular.
45 acp? There's plenty of CCW style 1911s out there & if you want to go striker or DA, Glock, Springfield, Kahr, Sig, etc all have something in that market. Though, you really want a striker pocket cannon, step right up to the 10mm G29
Thanks to the advances in defense ammo, 45 v 9 v 40 is pretty much a moot point these days (though that doesn't stop the internet from debating endlessly). OTOH, unless you roll your own, it's pretty tough to beat the significant price advantage of 9mm if you're going to use those small CCW pistols with any regularity.
Yeah, I mean, the Glock has a 13 round double stack magazine. To be fair, thats the full size glock 45. The 30 and 30s are compact and the 36 is a straight up competitor to the shield 45.

I thought about getting a 36 at one point. It's pretty thick in comparison w/the shield in 45. I love glocks, don't get me wrong, but they all seem thick to me and can't seem to break that blocky mold. Glock, IMO, have never been too serious about concealment. To be fair, thats the full size glock 45. The 30 and 30s are compact and the 36 is a straight up competitor to the shield 45.
