@2manband i've only had a couple chances to shoot a DW. i had a buddy, years ago, that had one in 41 mag. SERIOUSLY sweet pistol.:thu:

Do you remember what size that pistol was?
41 mag is a cartridge that always intrigued me, but it seems like they're only chambered in .44 size revolvers. If somebody made one in a largish 357 (L-frame or GP100) size I'd be hooked.

man.....that was like 1985/86. at the time i had a 1911 Commander and a SW 29. his was at least a 6" (did they make a 8"?) but my memory seems like it wasn't quite as massive as my 29. i KNOW the grips were narrower. i wish i could tell you one way or the other. i know that DWA didn't make a lot of the 41 mags.
i would definitely check into the DW 41's.

Woop woop!
Posted this one earlier this year when I acquired it. Model 36 Smith ~1974'ish

Very interesting. As I understand it, DW made the "small" frame revolvers like my .357 and .22, and then they made the supermags, which were larger than the S&W N-frame. (Some say more like an X-frame). I imagine if it was the latter, you would remember its huuuuuugeness.

I'm gonna have to watch out for one - if DW made a "small" frame 41 mag - even if it was only a 5 shot, I would be all kinds of interested.

i don't recall that it was THAT big. maybe similar to my 29. but not like the 357 Maximums.
or it's been so long ago and there's been so many big pistols.....maybe i'm not remembering accurately.
ever shot a Thompson Contender 10" in 45-70?
wow.

A Contender 10"....yes. In 45-70.....no.
That sounds like a whole lotta pistol! :embarrassed:

Since we're talking revolvers, here's my pride and joy. It's a 1947 S&W K-22 Masterpiece. 5 screw, 1 line address. Great shape and extremely accurate. The grips aren't original - they're from a later (1970s) K-frame. Shame - the originals would've been serial numbered to the frame. But these work and were hand-me-downs from my father so they've got sentimental value.

The last pic shows her in her natural environment. I loaded a few .38s this morning and didn't get a chance to put my stuff away. Kind of a random shot but I love how it turned out.

So nice. As I mentioned, I love revolvers, and Smiths are my favorite.

My bench is tooled up for .38 right now as well; loading 158gr FN lead. Got another 300 or so to go.

Right on - I'm doing some 125 gr semi wadcutters over bullseye powder. Plinker loads. Got a box of 250 and have 100 to go. Then I'm tweaking the dies and doing .357s. The classic 158 gr JSP over 2400.

i always was partial to the SWCs......
Yeah, these are kind of rounded but have a flat nose. Not sure what to call it to be honest. They were cast locally by a lady who sadly went out of business last year. They cost $65 per 1K and no shipping. Took a about 50 or so to get the load right - they shoot soft in my snubbies and are very accurate.

Cool. I've yet to load .357, even though I obviously could. I just shoot the .38s out my 586 if it goes to the range. I'm kinda partial to snubby 38s though.

I remember the first time I saw a 38 wadcutter, thought it was the neatest damn thing.

i always had good luck with H-110....but i was loading for the 44 mag and the 45 blackhawk.

H110/Win296 is a good one - maybe my favorite. I've loaded lots of 357, 44 mag, and hot 45 colt with it...I actually just got to the end of a 4lb jug from way back when and decided to try something different. I understand that 2400 powder/158 JSP was the original 357 load so I'm gonna try to reproduce it.

I have a lot of fun researching and reproducing original cartridge loadings - they always seem to be very accurate and work well in lots of different guns. I suppose the old timers built 'em that way for a reason.

Although supplies have gotten better, you pretty much load whatever powder you can get your hands on these days. I'm stocked up pretty well with titegroup right now, and autocomp. I like titegroup as it takes very little powder and measures very consistently.

I guess I'm lucky - I have a local dealer who maintains a good stock of reloading supplies. He might not have everything you could want, but he has a lot of stuff, and will work hard to order something in if you request it.

Yeah, lucky for sure.

There's a local guy here who does ok, but you get whatever he can get his hands on. He's dependable for primers, but pricey.

There's a place about an hour and a half from me that I stock up at when I'm out that way - they have a good selection. Bullets I pretty much get via the 'net though.
