Had a great night last night at the Ryman Auditorium. Damien Rice with an Icelandic/Swedish duo named My Bubba. The lighting was pretty cool, except it was dark dark dark.

So... this is fucking wild. Damien Rice's lighting designer contacted me and is buying a license to use my photos on his website. Drinks on me tonight, gents.

Also, here is some old photography I did with my old Nikon many years ago. I like the mist in the top shot, and like the blur of the background in the lower shot, while keeping the subject more or less in focus and sharp(ish).

A few shots from my recent drive through Oregon and Idaho.

My daughter's nickname is Pinecone, so I take a lot of pinecone pictures.

This was my first panoramic stitching project. I put together 7 or 8 shots in Photoshop. It took a few attempts, but I'm happy with this one. The composite image is over 95 megapixels!
This is a reservoir just outside of Bend, Oregon. @smurfco had asked about a zoomable version of this.

Everyone needs a generic pier photo in the bank.

Another one from that same trip. I had initially processed it in color, but I didn't feel like the intensity was coming through. So B&W it is.

I ordered a 40" canvas print of the panoramic from the reservoir. I'm pretty happy with how it came out. Those mofos are expensive, though.

I don't have the fancy equipment and I was kind of exhausted at this point but it was a lovely day so I took a pic with my iphone. We won't see green grass for 6 months after about another week or 2

Alright, I made up my mind on the new lens for Alaska. I opted to order a Sigma 150-600 contemporary series lens. I figure I probably will never make it to Alaska again, and I didn't want to miss any wildlife photo opportunities. I'll bring this lens along, even if I plan on using a wide angle 10-22 most of the time. I figure I can also use the big sigma for photographing race cars (F1 in Austin, sports cars at Sebring) and sports stuff too. Should be here on Thursday. I hope to get a chance to test it out this weekend.

New glass is fun...600mm will give you quite a bit of reach for wildlife (hopefully it isn't a beast to travel with and handle).

I've been surprised how close you still need to get for good wildlife shots, even with a long lens...plan on getting close enough to smell those bears. SMELL THE BEARS!
