A few points from my good friend, submitted for discussion:
Getting a little tired of the ESPN crew saying 1-loss Ohio State will leapfrog the undefeated Huskies to be #4 in the FBS rankings this coming week...after 1-loss Texas A&M did that *last* week (we don't need to worry about A&M anymore; they lost today to an unranked team). Granted, it doesn't matter right now...if the Huskies continue to win, they'll be there [edit: SHOULD be there], and if they don't, they won't. But still. If Ohio State as a 1-loss team wasn't better last week, they aren't better this week. Both teams crushed their opponents this week, and for the most part have all season (except, ahem, for that game Ohio State LOST to a then-unranked Penn State team). The Huskies have two wins against then-ranked teams, and the Cougs look like they'll be a top 20 team when it comes to Apple Cup time. The PAC-12 currently has three ranked teams, and a couple more (I think) who've been ranked at some point during the season. It's a power conference; winning a championship there is no slouch.
I think the onus is on the Buckeyes to pass the Huskies, not be handed it. If they're both 1-loss teams at the end of the year, I have no problem with Ohio State passing them THEN, based on strength of schedule. But give the Huskies the benefit of the doubt unless and until then. Anything less, two weeks in a row, is disrespectful of what they've accomplished.
Somebody make a cogent argument why I'm wrong. I don't see it.
Submitted to promote discussion of the process. No disrespect to any OSU fans. I would expect them to support their team. And they looked really good last night.
