COLLEGE FOOTBALL '16

SUGAR BOWL!!! Sooners v Tigers tonight. Mayfield will be able to score at will against an 8-4 team. Mixon will show up despite the press which imo rehashes ancient history for the sake of some headlines. Auburn's offense could (could mind you) do some damage to OU's less than stellar D. Should be a good game but there will be no upset.

The boat sank :(

I don't like them but I still think OSU was the best team in the big ten.

year after year we see teams win in the big ten and then get smoked in their bowl games. nothing new here.

western needs to play a tougher schedule if they want to be taken more seriously.

I really hope my Spartans turn things around next year. this year was pathetic.

But it shouldn't matter what anyone thinks, it should be decided on the field. Penn State beat OSU and won the big 10. You don't win your conference, you shouldn't be in the playoff. If you don't even make it to your conference championship, you should have 0 shot at the playoffs. It makes the regular season irrelevant.

I agree and disagree.

I think you have to look at the strength of schedule and big wins and big loses. just winning the big ten is not enough when you came from the weakest division in recent history and really didn't play anyone all year. they lost to Pitt and Michigan. So penn state had 2 loses and OSU only had one. sure penn state won the head to head but OSU beat Michigan who beat Penn State. I think only having one loss and a harder non conference schedule got them the nod, in addition to their name and draw of their fanbase for tv ratings.

if they just left it up to winning the conference no team would schedule any hard non conference game because there would be no incentive. the first few weeks would be a total snooze fest.

Penn State lost to 3 loss USC team, so clearly they weren't that great.

its all garbage though, I am sick of thinking the big ten is decent and then looking like fools during the bowl season.

Well Penn State beat Ohio State, so we know they are better than them

I think college should move more to a pro style schedule where the NCAA dictates it. So for example, next year the SEC East plays the Big Ten West for their out of conference games. The ACC West plays the Pac 12 North. The ACC East plays the SEC West and so on. Then you actually can get a feel for who is the best team. That would eliminate exactly what you said, the Big 10 looks great in regular season, because they really only play themselves and cream puffs. If everybody in your conference sucks and you only play teams in your conference (and basically high school teams out of conference) how are you supposed to gauge what conferences are good? Ohio played 3 out of conference games, Bowling Green, Tulsa and Oklahoma. They beat BG 77-10 and Tulsa 48-3, not exactly a tough out of conference schedule. At least Oklahoma put up 24, but still got killed.

And maybe the first 3 weeks would be a snoozefest (like 77-10 and 48-3 were nail biters  ) but the conference teams still play each other and the winners of the conference should be the ones to go to the playoffs. Maybe they increase the the pool to 8 teams, 6 conference winners and 2 wild cards or something, then Penn St and OS can go, but think of how bad you would feel if you played for penn state and you did what you should do, beat OS and win the conference and still no playoff. I have a feeling if Penn State would have only lost 1 game, they still would have gotten subbed, because the powers that be wanted a Saban vs. Meyer final.

That was a hell of a game. Riveting. The last five minutes were epic.

Great game last night. I had no horse in that race other than my daughter would have come in 2nd in her office pool had 'Bama won...oh well. OTOH, the king is dead, long live the king!

It was a great game with outstanding play from both sides. Either outcome was a win for me. If AL had won, then a state team is national champ. Clemson win, my arch rival gets taken down a notch:)

It's hilarious the unwashed Tide multitude is, true to form after any loss, already whining about unfair referees because of the no call of the pick on the last pass of the game. Lol, get a no call on 2 likely targeting instances and it's a lucky break, don't get a questionable offensive pass interference call and it's bad officiating.
I'm gonna have some fun trolling.

Legit. All in how you run and execute it. And in this case, what the other guy does. When he tackles the WR and falls back to obstruct his own guy, no foul.

The last play was indeed a pick play but there was no pick- DB tried to tackle WR and fell back into Nickel. Nothing to complain about

Might have been illegal, if it played out differently, but it didn't. Good scheme that worked out.
