WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO......RIGHT NOW......Mk III

Sorry for the loss of your friend.

Funny, lately I've been binging '60s garage playlists on YT while working. Lots of good stuff there, literally hundreds of great The [something]s-bands, and the odd dud here and there. Most of it I've never heard before but it's miles better than what The Beatles ever did IMO.

I think DdBob mentioned it in another thread, and it's like there were these very distinct timeboxes of particular sounds in the '60s and the '70s. I believe I can tell if a song was recorded between 1964 and 1966, 1968 and 1972 or 1974 and 1977, but I couldn't tell if a track was recorded in 1998, 2009 or 2022.

Anyway, I'm really digging the mid-'60s fuzz box, distorted harmony vocals, tambourine and reverb thing, and I think I'd like to have a go at recording some myself.

Good one, also on my psych playlist…I’m going to have to comb through this thread and see what else of yours I can add. I’ve been condensing some of my older playlists over the past few months and adding frequently.

Thanks. Those are two good ones you've posted!

We had a thread a while back about psychedelic music and there was a ton of great tracks in it. Here's the link:

I was listening to Revolver and realized, as experimental as many of the songs were on that album, most are about two-and-a-half minutes long. They were still in that mode of writing single-length songs.

I also realized that you could hear John and George get experimental while McCartney was still in pop mode. I think Revolver has become my favorite Beatles album.
