The Thread for Night Owls, West Coasters, Early-Rising Europeans, etc.

I think it's an amazing place. I've never been so overwhelmed from just being somewhere. I saw some great sights; the Museum of Modern Art, the view from the Empire State Building, the skyline views from the Brooklyn Bridge and from the Staten Island Ferry at dusk, Times Square, etc. Had some good food, including the proper NYC stuff like pizza and bagels, met and hung out with some locals. A great holiday, all in all. I think I'm moving to NYC to become a taxi driver.

This is good to hear. I am making my first trip there in late February for my wife's birthday. I am pretty excited about it myself.

I think I'm going to aim for a 21-22km run tomorrow morning.

I am aiming to be outside a littlet as possible tomorrow morning....Too dang cold to be outside this week. -6 out right now (-21C). I'm lowering the heat and hopping under a large pile of covers...

I'm slowin' up on the booze... after I got my John Lennon nite finished up I put on some Howlin' Wolf and got out lapsteel and tried to play along. Judging by the look on my cat's face, it wasn't too good. :embarrassed:

I wouldn't take it off if you are planning on seeing San Diego or Santa Barbara or even San Francisco. LA is not all it's cracked up to be IMO. And I think it's worth seeing once, but it ranks pretty low on the list of cities I've actually been to. Just about Phoenix, I think

Hm, so LA is not the best place to be? Sad; my son wants to study at MI in LA. He´s soon graduating from a music high school and wants to go more heavy into heavy metal, and sees MI as the best option for doing so.

Checking to see if the Sad man is still with us.

Sorry to disappoint. I had my end of semester party for that class, turned in my paper, watched Dr. Jerkendorffer drink too much and turn into a bit cuddly kitten, came home and made cream-o-whatevers-in-the-fridge for dinner, and got some of that sleep stuff people talk about.

You can always tell the forumites who aren't serious about world domination and eating dormice.

Well, in keeping with mythology, it would make me Aries, the god of war.

So 'world domination' would be a little petty for an Olympian like me.

At the moment, however, I'm just trying to keep from nodding off at my desk. I don't think that run is gonna happen. I just want an unhealthy breakfast and coffee.

Twinkies and a gas station taquito? Maybe some of those ketchup flavored Canadian Doritos?

I was thinking omelette, bacon, home fries, etc.... unhealthy breakfasts should be served hot.

I don't like the stuff you list, although I do like ketchup-flavoured potato chips, occasionally.

Good day gents ...from a sunny and mild London town. Breakfast was Porridge and a banana as usual. :embarrassed:

I have a perverse interest in the very worst junk food. I don't really like it, but I find the disgusting reconstituted food product + marketing thing fascinating. It might be a result of all the years in retail, or the college days in downstate Illinois were the finest restaurant in town is often attached to a gas station.

I did eat a taquito thing a week ago. It wasn't very good at all, but I was starving and at the gas station. They did some limited edition "retro" Twinkies a year or two ago. They were supposedly banana flavored like the originals. No great shakes.

My wife has a thing for processed sugar its simplest form. Stuff like Nerds, Runts, Rockets, Bottle Caps, SweeTarts, etc.

I go for things like nuts, trail mix, chocolate, popcorn, etc.
