The Great Deals Thread

ProAudioStar is blowing out a limited edition cream-colored version of the Blackstar ID:Core Beam amp - it's a 20 watt (2x10) stereo amp that has settings for electric, bass and acoustic guitar as well as built-in bluetooth (for use as a stereo wireless speaker). These things (in black) seem to normally sell for somewhere north of $250, but right now this one is $129.99 (free shipping).

I went ahead and ordered one - expecting delivery on 11/27. I'll post a NAD thread when I get it.

That's a lot for the money. I think it's 2 x 3" speakers though, not 2 x 10".

Yeah, after you say that and I reread it, I get that now. Still, most people see 2x10 and your mind automatically changes it to speakers. :)

I actually ended up getting one of those Blackstars and a Roland MOBILEAC (battery-powered acoustic/vocal amp). They'll both be delivered on Wednesday - at least theoretically. I think I have a use for both of them...

Very nice. I got a Scarlet 6i6 for around that much, and have no complaints. This looks like more product, perhaps fewer true signal paths.

Does it sound any good?

Don't know. My boss at work is a former professional jazz drummer (now attorney - figures!) who uses one of these for playing guitar at home. He certainly likes it!

I heard on at Sweetwater gearfest when they first came out. It was through a mixer into KRK recording monitors. Did not like it. Harsh is the best that I can describe it. Only time I ever heard one. Don't know if it would of sounded better through different speakers or, if whoever was running the board did a better job of EQing. @smurfco briefly just had one, maybe he will chime in.

I have it now...

I like it...it has a lot of usable presets, and there are tons more available online if you don't want to spend the time creating your own...through good headphones and my setup (Focusrite 6i6 via SPDIF, into Mixcraft and out to Yamaha HS5s) it sounds REALLY good...I'm thinking it will be my go-to for clean guitar sounds, but I'll probably still mic the amp for dirty...it also works really good for bass...

Request: can you do a review in the Guitars forum? Don't want to clutter here, but I have questions, first and foremost what the role is for that if you're using an interface. Maybe I was too quick, but I thought it was an interface? Are you using it as MFX?

I'm confused here.

I'll try to get to it before the end of the weekend, but the short answer is yes to all of the above...it does all those things...

OK. Are they a pain to disconnect/reconnect? I guess I'm thinking "doesn't this thing replace it?"
It's not a permanently installed piece for me, so it's just a matter of running 2 SPDIF cables and usb for setting parameters...

It works fine as an interface (I did try it), even has a mic input, but I prefer my Focusrite for the purpose...
