The Friday Thread

Do NOT want to be at work today, hopefully the day flies.

Tonight I'm driving down to Philly with a friend to spend the weekend with another friend that lives down there. We'll probably just hit up a local restaurant that serves a ton of different craft beers and has decent food, then go home and watch hockey.

Tomorrow we're getting up early and playing a round of golf at some local course, then get cleaned up and go to the Phillies game that night. Should be interesting since our pitcher is the oldest player in baseball going against their ace, coupled with the Phils' recent horrific slump it should be craptastic.

Sunday we'll get up early and head home, where besides doing laundry I will be a couch slug for the remainder of the weekend. :embarrassed:

Been a pretty nice Saudi Sunday so far.

Had a light lunch. Some soup and a bunch of really nice apples :thu:

Hung about by the pool reading a book on the history of the Sicillian mafia

Listened to the John Bonham redio docu in the other thread

I'm watching the Simpsons movie just now

Then I shall swim, have dinner (burger night tonight :thu: )

Talk to my parents and gran online

And then maybe catch a movie with some friends.

It's a staff only day tomorrow. Good in that there's no students to stress about. Bad in that my co-ordinator will no doubt come yup with 101 stupid needless tasks just to keep us busy all day.

Is Friday a " no work" day in the middle east? I'm curious because the Pakistani comany I'm delaing with is impossible to get ahold of.

Friday = the Muslim holy day and it's definitely a day off for every gulf country. I'm not sure about Pakistan but being a Muslim country it probably is a day off too.

believe it or not I just got off a live chat with them...still not happy but at least I spoke to someone. I was beginning to take your characterizing of the arab worlds work ethic to heart this week.

Running some errands this afternoon, then driving up to Morgantown, WV, spending the night at a friend's place, then running a 1/2 marathon in the morning. After the race, we'll come home, and depending on if I can source the parts I need, I'll get the Bassman biased and put back together.

No plans for Sunday, but I'm sure if the weather is nice we'll do some kind of running or biking or kayaking or something.

No plans for most of the weekend. I have a ton of stuff on the to-do list though. I need to fix part of my fence, get my non-running van to the shop (got a truck with a tow strap??), a butt load of general yard work as well.

I was supposed to run a 5K tomorrow morning, but my hurt calf took care of that. I have already lost about 5 weeks training to this stupid thing. I just need to wait another week (two full weeks from my last attempt at running) to allow it to hopefully fully heal.

Sunday I am planning on hanging out at the Peoples Fair most of the afternoon, then our band plays there at 6:embarrassed:0PM....

I was about to add, it might just be that they're lazy and useless like the rest of these inbreds

It's actually kind of interesting to see just how wide the gulf in common sense, intelligence and work ethic I've observed between Indians and Pakistanis here

I'd take 99% of the Indians who serve the food and clean the pool here to do a job for me over a Pakistani.

We actually fired the "ICT" guys in the school who were Pakistani and the stuff actually works better and with less problems with no one there than with these clowns supposedly making everything run properly

Friday!

Tonight will be bonding night with the new dog. He's been attached to my gf since we got him and he'll probably be whining and pacing the whole night since she's going away for the weekend.

Tomorrow I'll take the new dog out to meet some friends with greyhounds so they can play and run around, then probably just chill at my place and watch the Red Sox shellac the Phils.

Sunday will be more time with the pup until my gf gets home, then I might hit up the driving range to work on my horrific golf swing.

:santareindeer:

I have my first rehearsal in about 2 months this afternoon, and I get my Deluxe Reverb back from the shop, too...today is gonna rock.

Not sure what we're doing the rest of the weekend yet.

congrats on the new dog but just a thought...with my previous dog I took him over to a friends house who had just got a new dog and ten minutes later the were going at it, I ended up having to go to the emergency vet. Not saying anything like that will happen but until you've had him a few days you might want to hold off so that he can identify you as his person and not have to try and "prove" anything. Then again the new dog we visited was a psycho (friend got rid of him shortly after he attacked mine. He got it a petsmart from a recue and apparently it had anger issues because after it went for my dog it tried to attach some kids on bikes or something :() but we also visited his "home turf" So again just a thought.

The thing I noticed with Jack (my only dog as an adult so my experience is limited) is that even though he's a great and mild mannered dog the first month or so he was still adjusting to his relocation...we had a few bumps in the road until he was comfortable with his new surroundings..

I get what you're saying. I had him over to the rescue yesterday to sign the papers and there were five other greyhounds there. The only problem we had was when one tried to hump him, my dog started growling and the other one backed off. I was proud at my boy for protecting his butt from intrusion. Other than that incident, the foster said he's great with other dogs and has never shown any aggression. My friend has two friendly greyhounds and a backyard to run around in, nice to have in the long term but I may just keep him home with me this weekend.

Yeah another time was when I just got my current dog and then my parents got one shortly after (another rescue) I went over and it went for my dog but i stopped it. They ended up returning it and got another (from the HSUS) My dog is a rescue by the way. Again it was on the other dogs "home turf" and the other dog was not settled in. I've learned my lesson now.

FWIW if the dogs meet on neutral territory they should probably be fine but still I'd be hesitant on "socializing it" on the first or second day.

I don't really have any clue what is going this weekend. I might get in some climbing on Sunday, hit up REI's used gear sale tomorrow morning and then do a lot of training over the weekend for an upcoming hike. Oh and probably some World Cup and definitely Lakers/Celtics on Sunday.

Hasn't been bumped for a few weeks. :embarrassed:

What are your plans for Independence Day weekend?

Tonight: finally my parents meet her parents for dinner. After that go home, watch the Phils continue to lose and get some sleep.

Tomorrow: having people over for cookout/beer pong/grabassing tomorrow night, so the day will consist of cleaning, preparing some food and picking up the keg.

Sunday: recovering, then going to a friend's house downtown to chill on their rooftop deck and watch the fireworks.

Monday: getting some stuff done around the house, relaxing, maybe take a bike ride or play tennis or something outdoors if it isn't too freakishly hot (96 degrees forecasted).

Tonight - Driving down to Lewes DE. Leaving around 9pm will get there around 12:embarrassed:0.

Tomorrow - Beach

Sunday - Beach

Monday - Beach

Somewhere between that there will be a mix of bloody marys, crabs, grilling and beer. And I'm sure I'll hit the boardwalk in Rehobeth with the kids.
