The Friday Thread

Just realized I missed last Friday since I was in NY watching my friend tie the knot. :embarrassed:

This weekend should be busy, tonight is just relaxing, cooking out and watching the Phils.

Tomorrow I'm helping my grandma move her new freezer into her garage, then lunch with her and my brother. Stop by the local brew store to check a few things out and possibly purchase a home brewing kit. Then dinner with my dad and stepmom for her b-day. Basically lots of eating and not much else that day.

Sunday I'll try to get some golf in the afternoon, then over to the bassist's house to finish up recording/mixing some demos for our promo pack. The gf will be planting veggies/herbs on the deck while this takes place.

Probably not going to do too much tonight, I had a long week, super busy at work, hit the gym hard and had a 4 hour rehearsal last night so I'm kind of tired and sore.

Dunno, go to the bookstore and get some Mexican food tonight. Then just hang for the rest of the weekend.

Hey Mark, what is your favorite Mexican restaurant around the studio? My GF and I will be in that area this evening.

It's getting on for 6pm here and I'm still at work.:mad:

When I get home I'll get a couple of curries on the go (one hot & tomatoey, on mild and yoghurty) and open a beer. Or three.

I'm in the workshop Sat morning but the afternoon will be mine to fritter as I see fit.

Sun there's a classic car and bike show locally so I'll take a run out on the bike for a shufti.

goodusername... where do you get "shufti" from?
The last mall meet I went to was in my '69 Ford Custom, 302 4/dr.

I've used the term for years but had to have a shufti on the internet to check, I'd thought it was of Indian derivation. I was wrong.

A word of Arabic origin meaning "look!" Was brought back to Britain after the Second World War by returning soldiers who had learnt the word from Arab peddlars of dirty postcards. The peddlars used to keep the postcards hidden inside their coats and would show them to soldiers saying "Shufti, shufti!" - "Look, look!"
"Take a shufti at this!"

We're spending from now until dinner tonite at the racetrack, which is my grandfather's favourite thing to do. Dinner is mexican. :annoyed:

Tomorrowq morning we're leaving at 6am to make it back to Tampa for our flight, which will get in tomorrow afternoon around 2 or 3. After that I think I'm going to watch Season 3 of Buffy and play some Fallout 3.

Work all weekend. Gonna try to convince my co workers to buy us all beer at some point most likely. :embarrassed:

Just found out a friend never saw Braveheart.

We're having a Scottish Night. I don't know how to cook any Scottish food, really, and Safeway doesn't have any black/white puddings, so I got some fixins for a ground beef based concotion with taters and peas. Hopefully the friend in question will supplying us with hearty Scottish ales.

Tonight: chill and watch the Phils, probably cook something on the grill. (That rhymed motherfucker)

Tomorrow: meeting a potential new family pet at a meet and greet at a local pet store. Golfing in the afternoon if the rain holds off, then probably nothing at night.

Sunday: Golf if I can't get out Saturday, if not then probably clean up the house a little bit for the incoming dog.

This weekend I'm going to try and chill out as much as I can but on Sunday we have a memorial service for one of our customers that the family is holding at the Galaxy Theater. The children of the lady who passed away make up one of our longest running kids classes (their family started nearly 6 years ago when we opened) and the kids and Dad are going to play...I'm bringing some gear and may or may not play...not sure. The Mom was one of our biggest supporters in the beginning and was friendly with Mrs W :(

Today is off to a bad start. Ac is out at work, took me over an hour to go ten miles on the freeway, and I forgot my truck keys at home. Oh and Apple apparantly isn't going to be able to ship my item in the 2-3 days I paid for.

I am slammed all weekend. All great stuff, but way too much for a weekend. I'll need a day off on Monday to recover (which I won't get).

Tonight: Taxi kids around to various end-of-the-school-year parties. Inventory stuff for the Sunday BBQ and buy supplies we need. Make two different types of BBQ sauce (KC style & Carolina Style). Make a big pot of BBQ beans. I'm really not sure how much to make. I came up with the recipe two weeks ago and didn't write anything down (it does feature Fat Tire Ale).. We also are eating out somewhere because it is my #2 son's 19th birthday today.

Tomorrow: Up early to run a 5K charity race. Get home and do some cleaning - then take off for a band gig playing from 4 - 6 PM. Get back and start prepping to cook the pulled pork (14 hours in the smoker). Start setting up for Sunday.

Sunday: Grad party for my son. Burgers, hot dogs, pulled pork, baked beans, chips, drinks (it's supposed to be 85 degrees),cake, etc. From 1:embarrassed:0PM to 11:embarrassed:0PM (or until everyone leaves). Expecting between 50 and 125 people - we really don't know for sure. If you can get here you can come too.

That's what you get for taunting me. :embarrassed:
