The death metal appreciation thread part deux

Wanna play a game?

You basement dwelling glue huffing Satanic dweebs can recommend me one death metal band to get me into your twisted, illegible lifestyle/deathstyle.
that's gonna take some pondering/is probably an impossible task. The phrase 'acquired taste' sounds so hoity toity and makes it seem like an issue of not being able to appreciate some refinement or something, and I don't think it's that, but there are so many tropes and norms that are ridiculous and wacky outside the genre but normal and expected within the genre, that I think there may be a required period of acclimatization.

(I could be totally off on this and maybe there are people who come to "extreeeeeeme" metal later in life, but I suspect you had to have spent some time (metaphorically, at least) huffing glue in a basement as a youth)

It has come to my attention that there is a 24/7 White Castle around the corner from Reggie’s.
there's a 24/7 white castle around the corner (well, a ~10 min walk) from my house! but I haven't actually ever been, so maybe the one by reggies would be more appropriate for breaking that seal

very old school vibe, but an interesting mix of old school. like early slayer but then they throw in some death-y bits and more nuance without losing the URRRG MUST CRUSH

I really dig the morbid atmosphere, the heavily reverbed vocals are killer. The music does indeed have a heavy early Slayer sound, and I also hear a lot of early Death. They give it just the right amount of their own twist to it to make it quite refreshing.

I also seem to hear an fretless bass in there :thu:

love me some fretless bass in metal

It's nice to see Demilich - Nespithe getting recognition the last few years. Great technical album.

One of my pet peeves in death metal is when/if the singer growls the entire time. Totally ruins a song. On that note. Here's a death metal instrumental. (My own work).

I dug that, kinda hypnotic. Maybe it's just the programmed drums, but the guitars sound almost programmed/quantized too, so that the overall effect is almost more like techno. (please don't take this as an insult, it's not!)
