The death metal appreciation thread part deux

Anything wrong with that?

Finns kick ass when it comes to death metal

I love Thergothon

My all-time favourite doom release. They totally did the opposite of what every other doom metal band does:

They had a low-ish gain heavily chorussed, but thin guitar sound rather than thick fuzzy guitars and instead of going for a massive wall of sound, their demo and album sound like they were recorded in a massive subterranean cave. And those unearthly vocals, (Incidentally pretty similar to fellow Finn Antti’s (Demilich) vocals).

I always say that many bands sing about lovecraftian horror, Thergothon sound like Cthulhu lumbering through subterranean caverns...

Realllllly digging that Krypts album

It’s probably my album of the year so far.

I am also digging the new Darkthrone . It almost and 80s pastiche, but they know how to twist seemingly derivative riffs into something fresh sounding

I haven't checked out the new darkthrone yet, I need to

Not sure if I have posted it before, but this rules:

Yarrrr, I love them

I've been listening to the midwestern US version of that sort of off-kilter spacey thing a bunch lately too (also similarly a collection of demos, so the production is definitely anything but pristine on a lot of the songs):
