he's definitely gotten better at playing the position. but he doesn't exactly have great range. not having Utley over there is going to hurt them. that's really it. Valdez (who i saw enough of on the Mets) isn't so great either.

...yea, but this isnt the mets...players actually WANT to play for the phillies...

the Mets have made a lot of stupid moves over the past 15 years or so, going back to the Isrinhausen for Billy Taylor trade. historically, they haven't given anybody a chance. Valdez is one of those casualties. i thought he played well enough, but he's definitely isn't a big bat in the lineup.

Well....we all know the Cubs will suck again this year. Though with the new manager they probably will be better than last year.

wouldn't surprise me if the bottom 3 teams in the NL East ranged between 70-90 wins. they all suck in completely different ways.

personally, i'm predicting 81 wins out of the Mets, but still a 4th place finish. Phils win the East. Braves win the Wild Card in a 1 game playoff against the Rockies.

I can see that happening.....

But - I'm predicting that Rockies win the west outright. Partly because I am a fan, but also because I expect a let down in the Giant's pitching staff after all the innings they pitched last year. And the division is just not that strong right now, though the Padres were surprising last year so you never know.

I also think the Yankees miss the playoffs this year unless they make a big trade during the season. They don't have the pitching this year to get it done.
 
60-70% is awfully generous for that last type. i'd say 30-40%, same as every other team. the hooligans and day traders make up the rest of the fanbase.

Yeah....that would be about right for most teams. To their credit, which they largely do not deserve, the Cubs have a lot of the latter category in their camp.

Very true. But at least they have won a couple WS in the last century...:embarrassed:

Strangely, prior to Denver getting the Rockies, most of the baseball fans here were either Cubs fans or Cardinals fans with the bulk of those being Cubs fans. The Rocks home games with the Cubbies every year still bring out an abnormally large number of local Cubs fans to the game.
