One of the full-time drivers has a family tragedy, so I've been pulling a shit-load of OT...3days in this week and I have close to 35 hours accumulated...

I'm exhausted...and having back spasms, a condition made worse after delivering 40 brake rotors and 2 dozen sets of brake pads to the state police this morning...on top of a truck load of crash parts to every body shop within 20 miles...

Well, in that case...

Well, we just had our benefits conference call with the new owners. Looks like my job decision just got made.
My insurance goes up $300 per month and the paid time off just got cut to a total of six days per year, sick/vacation combined.

I was talking to Ron the Amp Guy about frankenstein yesterday, trying to get a feel for whayt this whole misadventure might cost. He didn't think it would be too bad, even if it needs a whole cap job. It's a simple circuit so it can't run into too much.
We got to talking about those 6J7 octal preamp tubes and what I might expect. His reply was that he didn't have a ton of experience with them but "they are real grinders." They should give the 6l6 a real nice harmonic overdrive. He said I should check out some Elmore James, as he was known to use similar amps. That sounds pretty good to me. I dig that old sound.

After driving 250 miles on Wednesday afternoon, 250 more miles yesterday to see the new house and get the keys, and then after driving an additional 500 miles yesterday, we are home (in the rental)... The kid was such hell in the motel the first night, we woke up at 1:30 in the morning, and ended up hitting the road for the 250 miles to the new house at 2:30 in the freakin morning... I didn't want to deal with that again, so I decided to trek all the way back... Needless to say, after 750+ miles in one day, I was out cold last night, but feel pretty well today... My wife was stoked with the house, too...

yeow thats a long week.

Wow, marc, that tele kicks mega-ass! It's gorgeous! Love the rails and the all black hardware; GFS? Tell us how it sounds.
I put together a strat with GFS Paulownia body and GFS neck. Dimensional quality sucked, and would have returned them, but body and neck were gifts, but it was a fair bit of work to fit and finish. Sounds great though.

This one has a pretty good fit and finish. Not perfect, but not bad, especially when playing plugged in. Acoustically, I would it have a better set up. I'm not sure I can dial it in without doing some pocket work. But all and all, I am happy with it. These GFS rails bring the rawk. The light body lightens up the tone a bit, which is good. All the parts were gfs except for the neck, which I had bought on eBay on the cheap several years ago.

Recoverable drawa. If they pay you the draw and your commission earned is less, they recover it next time you go over the draw amount.

I don't like it, not one little bit.

If not for that, I'd be all over this company. As it stands, I'm conflicted.

I bought a motorcycle from a very large dealer when I first moved back to the area about 17 years ago. They found out I was between jobs and was so impressed by how I worked my deal and knew bikes from my years of racing that they offered me a job. It was a full commision job. When we didn't make money, we got a draw which we had to pay back. The months after Christmas between everyone getting their tax returns was very slow. We all got deep into our draw, but fortunately made it up when the tax returns started coming in. My next job I had after that was a commision job on top of a good base salary. I much preferred that. I have been on salary for the past 16 years. I sometimes miss when I could look forward to raking in a good haul.

Well, the place I'm at now is offering commissions now, though the rates are not the best. The base I have is good, however.
The new place is total commission, which scares the hell out of me. I had a long call with them today and even their rates aren't what I expected them to be, though the pressure will be much higher.
I'm back to being unsure again.
The new guys are offering a lower vehicle allowance and insurance rates aren't much different.
:annoyed:

The guys I'm with now are relative ly new to rehab, but that could give me an opportunity for more advancement and control within the company.

Argh.
