I won't lie, with the exception of the cheapo Squier Stagemaster 7 I got for $100 there in Feb., I usually find GC to be a waste of time to go to. The same old Strats, Teles, and Les Pauls, with some teen twit "trying" to play the brootalz on a Dime axe, through a Line 6, or Peavey Vyper. And yes, they are overpriced - especially on the Gretsch stuff!! $2200 for a G6119 Tennessee Rose - get real!! I can get them for $600 or $700 less from places like Streetsounds NYC!

It was BRUWTULZ WAR 2010 this afternoon...they even let a kid play a real drumkit with sticks

One of my ex students owns an online Gretsch, Guild Benedetto, etc dealer: http://dreamquestspecialties.com/

If I really wanted one I think I could get a good deal....

Quick hello wavr0

Just got back from an American Cancer Society fundraiser that a friend hosted (sadly, she's late in stage 4 - anything I could do to help...).

Earlier today, did some experimentation in the basement with the Blackheart, the RP-355 and a stereo...I was having a great old time down there  :thu:

Later wave0

7-strings are fun for more than just djenty brootalz. I got mine, because I was sick of losing the high range I always lost with my baritone guitars. You can do HUGE chord voicings with them, and if it has a 2 octave neck, can do runs that go from subsonic lows to piercing highs. I LOVE'em!! :thu:

Very true, but at the end of the day, when I get that low B, it brings out the heavy in me.

Woody, you could look into the "X amount of payments" plans that Zzzounds, Sweetwater, and Sameday Music have. That's how I got my Schecter 7-string, and my old Tech 21 Trademark 30 amp.

Hi Ellen,

For me its not a matter of scrapping together small payments. It's a matter of how cheaply I can get it, as I tend to buy and sell a lot, and want to minimize my hit if I turn around and sell later. I suppose I would save the biggest amount by not buying in the first place. Still stewing.

Hey all...just got back from my annual trip to GC...almost bought a used Little Giant. Hated most of what else I tried..was really trying to find a semi-hollow guitar to take home but everything I tried under $700 really didn't do it for me...
Yesterday Saturn was playing a Gretch hollow in an orange color that was around $700. I did not play it but I liked the looks. Don't remember the model.

mornin'...

...spent some time yesterday FINALLY installing a set of GFS Mean90s into my epi LP classic Goldtop...pups, 300K pots, and .022 orange drops...sounds REALLY nice...not as good as Diceman's SwampAss withe the BG pure90s but still really nice...:thu:

...what's up y'all?...

Was it this guitar?

Thats the one I spend the most time with yesterday at GC. I was thinking that I might like it enough to buy it but couldn't get myself to pull the trigger. The I played the Setzer model and realized that was really the feel and tone that I wanted but I'm not spending $3k on a guitar I won't play very much.,.,.

^^^^ Before I bought my SE CU24, I was considering that one...after 5 minutes with it, I was pretty much  and moved on...

I worked pretty hard at liking it but it just didn't happen. I actually wanted to try a Casino because Tom Harkenrider had suggested that if I liked his ES330 so much I might dig that but they didn't have any.

Yeah, I wanted to give a Casino a spin as well, as I was gassing pretty hard that day for a semi; I guess GC's not carrying them in their stores right now...?

I was pretty underwhelmed by all of the $700 and below semis that day. Got the LP faded Studio that I later returned for my CU24 which is gonna hang around for awhile :thu:

The only guitar I would have seriously considered taking home if I had the cash was a used 1961 SG reissue...they wanted close to $1300 for it. Worth it but not in my budget at the moment..
