On Open Jam, if I was browsing late, then had a look in the morning, there would be about 3 pages of unread posts. I had a look this morning and there were 12 threads.

12.

Yeah, that's basically why I gave up on OJ quite instantly after joining (well that and the poop humour), it just was too fast moving. :embarrassed:

Yeah, I could take or leave a lot of the stuff on there, there are some great folks though. There was a particularly good little crowd of Brits a few years ago, some are still there.

rip

I only saw a couple new threads in GJ since last night. One was a Jimmy James "child rock" thread with zero replies...zero replies to a JJ child rock thread :embarrassed:

I don't know if it's just me, but I generally stay out of JJ's threads.
His schtick got tiring for me. :embarrassed:

I'm guessing a lot of his usual sparring partners went to LR or some other forum like that.

Here is my last one over there until things pick up a bit. I hope some admins read it and get the magnitude of how much of a fuck up this is.

Title: *Crickets* Hellloooo?

Ok, I guess I will sweep up and turn out the lights. It was nice knowing you all.

I like JJ. I don't like LR though. I was registered there way back (maybe 6 months after he started it) and posted for maybe a year but someone rubbed me the wrong way and I realized what a shithole it was. never went back

I sometimes like him too. What I really don't like is the 4 way shit slinging contest between him, Uma, SN and Frank Prince his threads usually turn into.
And the fact that they can't fucking keep it to one thread once they get going. :(

Oscar is mildly amusing.

Live Ruckus was ok but anjinsan (or whatever he's called) is a complete twat and ruined it for me :embarrassed:

I will probably visit for the spam page and the Doom Room if those threads come back.

GJ? not likely, but not out of the question.

The Doom Room is back on the site. But the site still looks as crappy as it did yesterday. I mean like c'mon! At the very least, it doesn't take forever to change colors from that stupid washed out pastel on a white background, to something easier on the eyes. Maybe several hours at the most. The space to the right of where the posts are, was a major complaint back in December, due to the way it hogs out posting space. It was at the most, semi-dealt with. The product reviews are mainly gone - it looks like none of the old ones were retained. Either not enough effort was made to deal with the issues that were bought up back in December, or else, the Jive software is so limited, that there wasn't much that could be done to address them. Either way, unless major changes are made (frankly the prognosis doesn't look good - Jive seems very limited IMO), I'll not be spending time over there.

I never had a problem with the ruckus. It got locked behind a firewall at my job, and it was hard to surf it at home with children....and I slowly drifted away. There are some good guys over there, but some real nuts who seem to spend their lives figuring out how HC is trying to ruin them. After a while that part got tiring. I like fooling around and silliness, and don't mind if it goes past what is allowed here, but some people over there are a little over the top. Some are way over the top and don't know when to stop or when something is too close to the line.

I like JJ. He seems like a nice enough guy to me and has remembered to send me PM links to articles he wrote that I asked about and stuff. His fighting with the flog trolls is entertaining most times. Love him or hate him, he is a big part of GJ culture.

I can see that. And if they could contain it to one thread at a time instead of "polluting" almost every thread on the first page on those nights, I would be just fine with it.

I was joking with Grits yesterday about a "Thunderdome" forum where folks could go in and troll the shit out of each other all they want away from the real forums.

Back in January they said that they were going to "Beta" test with real forumites who also had tech experience for their input. Apparently that didn't happen.

I remember that. Either they didn't do it, or they discovered that the Jive software package has (for lack of a better term) limited adjustability of parameters. I've rejected software packages in my job due to this issue (limited ability to change parameters). HC keeps on insisting that the site is in Beta mode. Sorry, but you don't make a Beta version, your main site. As it is, Beta versions usually have most of the issues ironed out. This one has quite a few issues remaining (moreso than most Beta version products I've dealt with) - most of which are similar to, if not the same, as the original gripes, that were mentioned by HCers who viewed it back in December.

That is some of the same issues with the version of vBulletin that we are currently on. They released it in December and it was such a mess that I waited two updates to upgrade this place. Two weeks ago there was a patch level update everyday for a week. Yesterday they came out with 4.0.3 but I read the forums over there and not only are some of the old bugs stil in existence but they introduced a few new ones. Plus they redid a bunch of the templates so now I'll have to redo many of my modifications that people use daily here.

Apparently no one at these companies has taken a course in Logic and Critical Thinking :embarrassed:

Yeah, I saw that. :embarrassed:

Kind of like an Aberdeen proving ground or Area 51 for trolls. I like it.

:hmm:

As long as I could keep it from spilling into the main forums it wouldn't be a bad idea. Not sure it's possible, though :embarrassed:
