are they making changes already today? thats a good sign...

I just can't believe they didn't have anyone properly testing the usability of the software, these issues could have been diagnosed in 10 minutes by any semi-regular forum user.

It is a good sign that they're making changes, but they've been tossing this 2.0 idea around for so long, I think they could have done a LOT more work to it before implementation.

Back in January they said that they were going to "Beta" test with real forumites who also had tech experience for their input. Apparently that didn't happen.

Ok, I finally was able to log in. I don't like it. I'll try to wait it out until the bugs are worked out, but I don't think it's going to be a place I post much.

He has an account here and was posting last week.

I saw your crack about hiring me to update HC in Andertons thread :embarrassed:

That wasn't a crack. It was a 100% serious suggestion. You did everything right, while they did everything wrong. I'm sure the idiot powers that be over there(The higher ups than Anderton) wouldn't listen to your brilliance though:embarrassed:

You're dealing with a site migration a couple of orders of magnitude larger than what I did here. Someone like Laxu or Mattburnside would really be more appropriate.

I didn't say you should be in charge:grin:

I said "Consultant". Meaning when they were talking about using Jive instead of vBulletin they could have "consulted" you and you could have said "Hey, that is fucking stupid".

My advice would have been to stay with the old vBulletin until this version was stable enough for a big board. I don't know why they couldn't have just reinstalled the vBulletin version they were using fresh to keep it running with the old databases.

I feel like they tried to cram too many websites into one thing.

Seriously, why change from vBulletin? It is such a good format for a forum. They could have changed many other parts of the site and kept the forums as vBulletin right?

I think they wanted it all integrated and didn't feel like vBulleting could handle it. Also, vBulletin works for all of the other forums that we frequent (at least the bigger guitar ones) and they don't have the problems that HC has.

Like I said before, perhaps this version isn't ready for primetime yet but I wouldn't have gone down that road....

I haven't seen a GJ mod chime in on all this yet:embarrassed:

And as I just posted in Anderton's thread, there is a Dunder Mifflin 2.0 episode of The Office on right now, and they are all in the conference room talking about how horrible it is:lol:
