RIP Taylor Hawkins

This is a big loss for the music world. The Foos were one of those bands that reminded people why they go to rock shows!

And I feel awful for Dave. This is the second time he’s lost a friend in his band.

This is the third loss for Pat. That's got to take a toll.

Used Everlong for my deck A soundcheck last night.

I have a small but very OCD routine for my set up at gigs and this is the first time in over a decade I've changed it up. It felt very right. I didn't even do Bowie when he passed and that was almost like a family member.

I'm finding it very cool that Fox Sports is using Foo Fighter music as the bumpers into commercial breaks...

When Kurt died they were on a tour break so everyone associated with Nirvana was on home turf...I cannot imagine the logistical nightmare it must be getting a large group of grieving people out of Columbia and onto home turf...let alone getting Taylor's body home...

I'm not a particular fan but I felt compelled to watch Back and Forth last night and was immediately struck by Chris saying more than once that he understood and made a point of remembering that the whole thing could end at any moment...

I was wondering yesterday how it must be for Dave, he lost a soul mate here, but on top of that he has a huge financial responsibility towards all the others touring with them now. I'm certain he doesn't feel up to finding another drummer and carrying on, but crew, backing singers and so were certainly getting paid per show.

Tour insurance must be in place. I hope.

It’s official.
Everyone is back in the U.S. including the crew.
Not surprising at all.

:frown:  :undecided:

No, not surprising. I would have been surprised the other way around.

Still very saddened by this one for some reason. I mean there have been lots of times something like this has happened. But this time hurts more for some reason. Kinda like when Cornell died.

His drumming was a big part of the band as well as his persona. The FF have had a long run and I wonder if TH will be the end of FF. I realize the FF are a money making machine but it's like some bands where one guy is so much the focus. Think if The Grateful Dead continued on as TGD after Jerry or instead they kinda cashed in and had a revoling cast with various name changes (The Dead :puke:) and it sucked IMO ....\
So do you just call it a day and form a new band, new name down the road or do you hire a TH v2 to cash in.

Or Like Nirvana...kurt died and that was the end.

On one hand, I don't know how Dave could bring himself to make music again, but on the other, Dave needs to make music. It's like breathing or eating to him, he has to do it. They have had lineup changes in the past, but this is so different. I think the Foo Fighters are done.

Music brought him back from Nirvana. Music will bring him back from this. Nirvana was Cobain’s band without him there was no Nirvana . This is Dave’s creation. There will always be that hole but you go on.

There's gotta be a few hundred people on the FF teat. They'll "soldier on" because Taylor "would have wanted it this way". I bet they hit all their summer festival dates.

As long as they don't go on some "reality" show to find the next FF drummer.

I've seen Rufus Taylor (son of Roger) mentioned in a few places as a candidate. Apparently is a very strong drummer who has drummed live with Queen and The Darkness. There is a logic there given the connection between Taylor Hawkins and Queen.

I doubt if the Foos are even thinking about that yet though. Far too soon.
