Return to the Planet of the "Hey Euro's its that time again" Thread.

I'm hoping this fuel problem stretches out. If there is one thing that pisses the average British voter off is having to queue for petrol. A proper winter of discontent might just finally get through to people that the Tories are not fit for government, for any number of reasons.

not so sure. I am sure that if the country looked like a post-apocalyptic wasteland, people would still find a way to blame teh immagrunts and the left

Yeah that's the most absurd thing ever. Left hasn't been in power for ages, yet somehow it's all the left's fault. Same garbage in NL.

I mean, fuck, New Labour isn't even left '

THANKS OBAMA

The HGV driver thing is a mess for shop shelves but the fuel situation (much like the toilet paper situation 18 months ago) is down to people acting like idiots when they don't need to.

Yeah that one was hilarious. Here there was a small rush in toilet paper at the start of COVID as well. We're in one of the biggest paper producing nations in the world, hell is going to freeze over before this country will ever run out of toilet paper

Anyhoo, just got a gigantic pumpkin from Aldi for Halloween. plenty of those, whereas there hasn’t been a single cauliflower for weeks.

Meh, the GF's family cat had to be put down

GF is in NL to teach a course, stayed with her dad, her sister and sister's boyfriend are also staying there as they are renovating their place and there's some potential asbestos issues, the cat was living with them, so was now also living at the dad's house. She had some minor issues over the past year, and for a cat, is pretty much ancient in age. Well over 18 years old. Started showing signs of just being in extreme pain over the last 2 weeks, and in the last few days just lay down wherever in the house because she couldn't make it any further...

Normally the death of a pet is already sad, but somehow this feels like a bit of an end of an era. I'm not gonna talk about it with the GF in this way, cause it's just going to make her very sad, so I'm going to ramble this line of thought to you guys :embarrassed:

They got the cat when they moved to Gouda, to the place where the dad still lives, when my GF was about 7 years old. When I rolled into my GF's life, she was still living with her parents, and they were really this family that does everything together. In my family it was totally normal that several times a week at least someone wasn't there for dinner because some kind of obligation/sport/hobby/whatever. But they did everything together, dinner with someone missing was extremely rare before my GF started studying (ah yes, for context, we got together when I was 19, she was 16). So of course the cat was also always there, whenever they were having dinner, the cat would also eat in the corner behind the dinner table. I don't know if I ever mentioned it here, but in 2011 my GF's mom passed away . Everybody, with quite some ups and downs, learned to live with it, but now, all the grandparents, and even the cat are gone, it kind of feels like the end of that memory... Dunno why, it just feels weird....

WASSSSSUPPPP. Absolutely pissing down here.

I'm attending an online technical writing conference today. It's simply RIVETING.

More rivetting than being stuck on the loo with some sort of stomach bug all night I'd presume? :embarrassed:

First day off work in years. I was up at half 7 fighting to stay awake so I could email over instructions for my cover and I'm still doing bits n bobs on Teams from bed : facepalm:

On the upside, I managed not to shit all over our fancy new duvet

Got my results today, and from today you may call me Mr Wok MA

Not sure about the details yet, but I am happy to have passed what turned out to be an online university course.

I am going to have a few drinks tonight!...

2 to be precise
