I got battered off a bunch of 14 year old lassies on the bus years ago

My (now ex) gf: "you're so brave sticking up for that guy and not fighting back"

Me: Why TF did you not wade in and fight them?!?! :embarrassed:

RE: last night, Mrs JBJ is the voice of reason in these situations and usually tells me to act my age and behave myself.

She said they were just a shower of wee arseholes, I was right to stand up to them and maybe they'd think again before hassling random people going about their day. :thu:

I have only gotten into a fight once on a bus in Edinburgh, that was about 20 years ago. I just looked at a Ned annoyedly as he was shouting on the bus to his mates outside and I was on the phone. He started threatening me, I asked him if he could be a bit quieter politely. He started pushing me. I did nothing and got off the bus at my stop in Leith. He started following me and shouting at me. I ignored him until he started pushing me again. By then I had enough, turned around and hit him right on the eyesocket. He dropped to the ground and started crawling away from me.

I turned around and walked away like nothing happened

Looks like the sun is out. Too bad it’s way too nice in bed to get up and outside

Now I wonder what's happened to that
my daughter will be delighted. She can’t wait to go back to school

She won't be the only one but I can't help but worry a lot of kids will struggle or just not come back at all.

This is a massive Adverse Childhood Experience they've all gone through and whilst it's maybe not as likely to affect them as abuse or neglect, it's still something they have to process.

I would bet my life some of our kids won't come back and many that do will have regressed significantly.

Sorry for anyone who's got kids at school age right now. My son's just passed his first year of university so fortunately not hit by the worst of this. Course he's on is entirely course work graded which meant when they shut the campus in March all the lectures were over and it was down to getting project work done. Coming home for lockdown worked for him as he was stuck in a team of muppets and getting really frustrated and miserable and the tutors weren't helping. If he'd stayed any longer he would either have quit, or decked at least one of the other team members and subsequently been kicked off the course. As it is, getting some distance and family support helped him and he's on course for a 2.1 looking at his grades.

The other benefit of being home is with some prompting by Dad, he's tried some stuff out at his own pace and got his enthusiasm for the subject back.

It looks like the winter term will be taught entirely online so he may not be back on campus physically until next year. Seeing how well lectures go over the Video Conferencing will be interesting.

I'm sure I've mentioned it before here. When I did my PGDE the lecturers were all video'd so I could either spend money on a bus and traipse right across the town, or lie in and watch it at my leisure that afternoon.

A friend from my undergrad almost got kicked off the course because he didn't go to anything, not even seminars which had an attendance taken. The dude just preferred doing his own thing and did a lot better than any of us, or indeed most folk on the course, he was on course for a 1st if he kept it up, so they let him go. But yeah, Further and Higher Education is much better geared up for distance learned - the kids are fully aware that the ball is firmly in their court to keep going.

P.S. fuck asshole group members. Even doing a Post Grad last year with seasoned teachers - aka professionals earning upwards of £40k a year at this point, most of them were a complete nightmare. Even just working in groups with them during lecture days was hell-ish because they wouldn't either read none or very little of the literature and then we're all set a task in our table and half of them (usually females I'll add) are sat around either totally excluding themselves or even worse, trying to bullshit through tonnes of material and theories they've no clue about.

And breathe.

Hey wok - you don't know anyone that's in the mark for a combo or head a 1x12 and cab do you?

Clearing out and got a Laney amp, Egnater head and Laney cab pissing me off in my living room :embarrassed:

Ummm, I'll ask around. None of my friends ( including me) have any money though

Seriously though, what's the Egnater Head?

Rebel 20.

It's probably not up your street to be honest but it is a really cool little amp. I just don't have any use for it:

Corona times still seems very foreign here... Because pretty much everyone has been a good boy here and stayed the fuck home, life's still kind of normal. Everyone is getting their social mode in before the weather turns to shit and second wave means everyone's gonna stay the fuck home again.

Gonna spend the whole month of August on an uninhabited island for an artist residency. The notion scares the living daylight out of me, and especially after over a month and a half of isolation at the start of this year I'm not entirely sure if I'm up for this is much as I was when it was arranged :embarrassed:

Also, you scottish folk really need to stop punching each other on public transport, it's just rude :embarrassed:

Purely judging by that demo, that's a really nice amp for anyone needing a clean to classic rock sound and anything in between.

when in Rome...

Fuck me, it’s not even 10am and it’s already roasting today. I am going to end up being sunburnt.

Fucking boling here! :panic:

It's lovely actually. My neighbours are all away so it's nice and peaceful, the sun is out, and I'm working from my balcony with some tunes blasting. Think I'll be knocking off early to 'cool down' as well

Well, after stating yesterday that son was probably not going to be on campus for the Winter term, today they send an email saying they are expecting them on site one day a week for lectures (no details which day yet) and there might be other activities they need to come in for. Son is quite anxious about this as is still very worried about Covid-19 but I've calmed him down by pointing out that until he gets more details there isn't really any more planning we can do so we'll have to wait and see.

Weather is nice here but due to go down hill over the weekend as per usual.

I'm still in bed but our badly fitting blackout curtain suggests it's very sunny outside.

Which gives me a good excuse to sack off doing the bushes at the back of the garden.

Took this small boat to an island in the archipelago below Turku for a month long artist residency. It's absolutely stunning here, we've got a nice house to stay in, close to the sea (not much isn't close to the sea here though :embarrassed: ) and it looks like the weather should be great for at least the next week.
