Not a direct replacement I think, but a good and very useful player. Quite underrated imo.
We probably need better long term I think. Doubt it'll happen this month though. :embarrassed:
 
I still can't fathom why any of these teams are even considering Evans - I get that he's served his time and so on but surely they must know the shit storm it's going to create even being linked with him and surely there's other footballers out there they could sign....

Free transfer on massively reduced wages must be appealing, but I cant see any clubs signing him up.

It's funny how he's become such a pariah when there are plenty of other footballers with convictions to their name that I never remember too much of a fuss being made over (Marlon King, interestingly, was signed by Sheffield United after being convicted for sexual assault)

Agreed, have always been a fan of Milner and never understood the amount of criticism he got for what essentially amounted to performing very solidly in pretty much any position he's been put in.

Not exactly a bright young star, but he'd be a good addition to any squad – particularly as we already seem to have missed out on both Valdes and Shaqiri :embarrassed:

Why teams are considering him, I don't know. However it is important to note that he has not served his time yet, he is out on licence/probation and only half way through his sentence so I don't think he should have any chance of playing again until that is up. The other point is that he still claims he's innocent and is disputing his conviction which is consistent with the fact he has not said sorry or shown any remorse. Can't see how hiring an unrepentant convicted sex offender still serving his time makes any sense on any level for any club. For it to be viable to hire him, he has to complete his sentence and show remorse or clear his name. Even after that, he'd be highly controversial.
