Played my first round of golf today

Friday I had such a great round, then the next one on Sunday I was nearly clueless. Just once I'd like to follow up a good round with another good round. :annoyed:
[never play golf twice in the same week]

can you imagine what the pros go thru.
practice monday thru wednesday
then play for millions thursday thru sunday.
:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

edit: oh....and btw....this weekend is the PNC Father/Son/Daughter/Nephew/Niece (whatever) tournament.
it's gonna be a hoot!!!

double edit: it is going to be on your local NBC station.

Played today with my Dad, brother (9 holes only) and golf bud John. Comfortable save the wet feet after the first few holes, Shot 47 on the front and 52 on the back. Good score for me but I F'ed up the last 2 holes. Also, I hit my first golfer, my buddy John with a searing line drive, he's got quite the welt. But it did save me at least 2 strokes. Yeah, I'm a dick.

i played 9 today. it was 45°F and very squishy. been raining off and on for 3 days.
i shot a 46, and mostly because of several duffs. i keep picking my f'ing head up on the down swing, looking for where the ball is going, BEFORE i actually HIT THE BALL!!!

Been there. I think I screwed up on the last two holes because I hit my bud on the 3rd last hole. He was a good sport about it. Rather than take a drop, I hit out of a cornfield and had an amazing, if too hot line drive. They didn't see me hit it.

Membership of my course is running out in February. The fees are almost £700 to renew which I'm nowhere near going to get my money's worth from.

A colleague showed me another local course, slightly further away but an 18 hole and en route from work that have a lifestyle membership it's £300, £50 of which goes to the bar, R&A etc... Then the £250 = 250 points you use for tee times.

Tees range from 12-20 points depending on times, there's actually less restrictions on when you can play than my current membership and if you use all your points you just top up £50 at a time.

I've emailed them for some more info but it sounds ideal given I'm only really pottering away myself after my golf pal passed away and aren't in any sort of rush to play with other people until I'm significantly improved.

i played 9 today
40°F, 6-8 mph winds, partly to then mostly cloudy.
a little chilly. played ok for the conditions and my less than stellar ability.
winter golf up here is tough.

My now retired golf buddy John and I played 36 holes on both Wed. and Friday. Wed. was great golf weather with no one pushing or holding us up. Friday was nice but very windy, he beat me both days, but 5-8 strokes. I'm hovering around 100 per round with 95 being the best so far.

played 18 today with a couple other guys i just met at the course.
50°F and the course is quite soft. short irons/wedges just dig right in behind the ball, so quite a lot of phat hit for all of us.
also 15-25 mph wind, so fighting that also.
score for 18: 106
but on the other hand, it's mid february in the upper midwest and we're out there golfing in 50 degree weather.
i guess i'll take it

We had great weather today. I made it through 15 holes before I finally had a meltdown hole. Could have been a career round but that triple got me to 87.

I hope some of the mojo lasts into next weekend. Damn work taking up all my time… :flamemad:

Had an enjoyable 101 yesterday with a 45 on the back nine. Today was a total practice in futility, greens were indecipherable. Everybody stank on the greens. Got stuck in a bunker that took me 6 tries to get out of.

Mavrik 3 wood inbound next week, to match my Mavrik driver.
i am now at a place where i have all the clubs i could want, so with the new bag in May, the only golf stuff i'll be buying for several years will be balls and tees :thu:

Man we had the nicest spring weather today! The grass is greenin’ up, life is good.

My short game was a little iffy today and cost me some strokes, but my full swing is feelin good.

we got 2 inches of snow yesterday, which some is still out there.
courses have been closed for 3 weeks, due to both rain and snow. greens and fairways are under water on courses i play.

It’s amazing what a few degrees of latitude will do for you. :bigg:

Played Torrey Pines on Friday. I tried to play more conservative bogey golf, and I managed to do that on a few holes on the back nine, but my swing that day was not working well, and I had too many bad shots to have a somewhat decent round. And my short game was absolutely nowhere. The only real positive I can take away from that round is that I finished with the same ball that I started with. That's the first time that happened for me.

My short game was iffy at times this weekend as well. That can cost a lot of strokes.
