Pets of Wein

We adopted Maggie (Bichon Frise mix) from the city pound after she was rescued from a puppy mill 8 years ago. We have no idea what her actual age is, but her eyes, ears and nervous system are starting to fail. She doesn't have much time left.

However, Binx likes to cuddle and milk-paw her, and she patiently allows it. They snuggle a few times a day for naps, too.

Lola on holiday. We went a very moderate walk today and she's knackered. She's been really good with other dogs for the most part. Even managed a pint earlier on with 3 other dogs in the pub and she was vigilant but nice and settled. The barmaid remembers her from last year and said she's come on great :thu:

We went a little trip to Lindisfarme earlier. Lots of dogs but Lola ignored every one of them except for a few little yappy ones that made a beeline for her.

Super proud, I need to message her behaviourist and let him know. Proud dog dad moment.

Our friend hired a car and has come down to visit. She's only met him once before a few weeks back, they're running around the house like best pals.

I've noticed German Shepherds ignore most of the other dogs when they are at a dog park.
Damn snoots is what they are, I tell ya'! :bigg:

Well, fuck.

Mrs DCF just found a busted egg in the bottom of Willy's cage.
It wouldn't have hatched. So, no real loss.

So, Willy is a Wilhelmina.

I am, once again, the lone male in the household. LOL.


Just so you know, there's no easy way to determine the gender of a conure. The only sure way is a DNA test.

Maybe she'll start producing regularly and you can have a parrot omelet.
 
This one is sadly on her last night among the living. A very fast onset non-drug responsive lymphoma. She was fine like a month ago, an now can no longer even stand. She came home from the vet tonight so we could all say goodbye. Five years old is too young to lose a dog. Tomorrow she is back at the vet to be put down.

What a heartbreaking turn for such an undeserving pup. I feel for the loss you and your family are facing.

mojo :frown: it's always hard but 5 years has got to be rough. On the plus side you were fortunate to have a "last night" as weird as that sounds. The dog I had before Callie was similar, I had discovered he had bone cancer and not long to live so I went about three weeks knowing and everyday was special....the last night he got a whole steak and a bowl of milk ! With Callie she was having trouble standing for quite a while but otherwise fine then one morning her face was swollen and touching it caused pain....she had infected teeth and at her age of 14 and difficulty standing it was time...thatr was a bit harder because it was so sudden.
