....It probably leads from Verizon, AT&T and Comcast lobbyists and into Congress' campaign war chests.

Net Neutrality is on the chopping block too. So they're going to get you coming and going; sell your data and charge companies for top tier access to their subscribers. Cause you know, these providers are just getting by as it is.
perhaps these guys may end up being allies.

Yep. And after I read the WSJ article, FB's "sponsored content" included another article about buying the best VPN service.

Funny thing is that some people are trivializing this by comparing it to Facebook....they sell your data too!!
Sure, but they also don't charge you a single penny to use their product and everyone using it is aware of that going in.

Last I checked, Comcast doesn't have a free internet plan.

So, uh, which VPN service should I be using? Or is that a hoax too?

Depends on what you want from a VPN but an easy answer is TOR if you just want privacy.
One recurring criticism of the VPN services is your basically moving your 'trust' from one company to another. Yeah, your ISP may not be able to see your traffic details but what commitment to your privacy does the VPN company have or how secure is your data with them? Research is important

yea.....but TOR is HEAVILY monitored by all fed agencies....and it is NOT totally anonymous.....they monitor entry and exit points and track you that way.

That's kinda my point. A VPN service is just as likely to sell your information now.

The house investigation into Russia is beyond ridiculous. The leader of the committee should be some other republican who isn't a huge trump supporter, who worked on his transition team. He is sharing things with the person he is investigating that he isn't even sharing with the other members of the committee!!! It's unbelievable. Paul Ryan still supports Nunes too, what a crook.

They aren't even trying to keep up any pretense of impartiality. What's the point of even having an investigation? :-\

If they went after this with the tenacity of their Benghazi investigations, Trump would be in prison by now.

The traffic from your PC into the TOR network is encrypted. The risk with TOR is if you are using unencrypted communication & someone is running a malicious exit node; the last hop in the network that passes your traffic out to the destination. The origin of the traffic is unknown but the contents, if not encrypted (think https), would be visible to inspection. There was a 2016 vulnerability with the FF browser that works in conjunction with TOR that the FBI exploited but that was patched. Is it a fool proof solution? no. Will it prevent your ISP from selling your data? yes.

That's why many people recommend you go with a pay VPN that is run offshore in a country with no obligation to turn your data over to US courts if you need that level of security. IDK if there has even been an instance of a reputable VPN service compromising their customer's data...it would be business suicide.

Are you seriously suggesting that the house Republican, who was a member of the Trump transition executive team and has exercised incredibly poor judgement (at best) in his capacity as the Intel committee in connection with this investigation, should recuse himself? I don't see a problem.

the house says it will keep pursuing replacing obamacare.

the senate says it will not keep pursuing replacing obamacare.

great work governing with a majority in all bodies of government!!!!!

You didn't think they'd stop with just one feeble attempt?

In all seriousness, something needs to be done about the situation. I don't think pure repeal & going back to the way things were is an acceptable solution and amazingly, some moderate Repubs don't either. Single-payer has no shot in this congress or with this president. Improving what's currently in-place makes sense but that would require these opposing ideologies to work in compromise, you know actually govern. Seems like a stalemate right now.

I can't tell which the GOP hates more, that it is named after a black guy or a democrat. I mean, they have all said there are parts of it they agree on, so if that's the case, why repeal it? Why not just fix what they don't like about it? The only thing i can think of is that a black democrat will go down in history as the one who got healthcare fixed if they do that. If they worked on fixing it, instead of repeal and replace, they might actually get some help from the other side of the isle on it.

I want to clarify, when I said GOP, I mean those in office, not people here who are republicans or vote that way.
