Gullibility/paranoia/lack of critical thinking skills/ignorance/poor education + the rise of for-profit propaganda. 60 Minutes just did an interesting piece on fake news, of course you'd have to contain a shred of reason and attention span to understand what was conveyed. Therein lies part of the problem.

I saw that 60 minutes piece. That one lawyer douchebag omg

The most amusing and obvious part though was that the fake news generators mainly just care about the money. Der!

i watched that story......well part of it. the first guy i could stand to listen to. that second guy was a fucking lying asshole piece of shit. "everything i post is the absolute truth." no it isn't.....it's a pack of lies.....and it went on and on like that. fucking wingnut lawyer. shakespear was right.

If you have public Congressional hearings scheduled wherein your President could conceivably put to rest any questions regarding his relationship with Russia, why would you cancel those hearings?
because the truth would come out and they can't have that at any cost. all these closed door meetings. it's all highjacking bullshit.

and those fucking asshole wingers were blaming the democrats for the trumpcareless bill failure. wtf....the democrats never got to see the fucking thing until it was going to the floor for a vote. and because it was done as a "reconciliation" bill....the democrats were NEVER going to GET to vote on it anyway.

"You have President Obama who, after the ― I believe it was after the beheading of Daniel Pearl ― spoke about how upset he was and then rushed off to a golf game,” McEnany said on CNN on Monday night.

Pearl was abducted and killed in 2002 when George W. Bush was president. Obama was a state senator in Illinois at the time.

That should replace "E Pluribus Unum" as the national motto.

Technically all that can still be true.

It's fairly standard to refer to any president as president. Of course that can confuse things, intentionally or otherwise. Context and shit is important, and easily manipulated to construct a biased narrative.

but when you are speaking about them prior to them being president, does that hold true? I seen people refer to W as governor Bush when talking about his time as governor prior to him being president. Of course, that guy also said "I believe" before saying the Pearl thing, so he can just say, it wasn't Pearl, it was something else like that.

It does, but I agree you should really reference the position held at the time you are talking about.

A fair statement would be: President Obama, Senator at the time, yadda yadda.

But if you are intentionally trying to mislead...

Also throwing in those little bits like "I believe" gives them room to maneuver/backpedal if need be.
