Why not just fix what they don't like about it? The only thing i can think of is that a black democrat will go down in history as the one who got healthcare fixed if they do that. If they worked on fixing it, instead of repeal and replace, they might actually get some help from the other side of the isle on it.

I want to clarify, when I said GOP, I mean those in office, not people here who are republicans or vote that way.

FFS, it is called the Affordable Care Act. The Republicans nicknamed it Obamacare, not Obama or the Dems.

They could probably get it fixed if they just told the Trump loyalists that they will repeal Obamacare while fixing the ACA. That should make everyone happy.

I know what it's called and the GOP's bright idea of calling it Obamacare is what fucked them in the first place. Had they not done that, it would have been much easier for them to fix the act instead of all of the the stupid political theater they have to do now.

Yeah, but in doing that, they fucked themselves. It's gonna be tough for a bunch of those guys to win their nomination this time around because they didn't repeal "Obamacare." It's not like the GOP will lose seats, but they will lose incumbents.

If they won't lose seats, then the Republicans won't lose power. Individuals may be voted out. But it's not like the party will suddenly change it's game plan.

Yeah, but all of these years of catering to the fringe groups have left them with a very fractured party. It will be hard for them to come together on anything, they couldn't even get enough votes in the house to repeal Obamacare. It was just a few months ago when they voted 100% down party lines and now they can't even come together to remove the thing they wanted removed for the last 6 years. It may take a few more cycles, but if they keep replacing folks like Eric Cantor and their replacements still get nothing done, the people may look elsewhere when they vote.

the problem here is that the ruling group is actually 3 different groups all falling under the "republican" umbrella. many within each group do not get along with the other groups. you have the teabagger hard liners, the moderates and the dumpster sychophants.
 
Fucking politics. I got one for your asses. We have a knuckle dragging confederate flag waiving SOB running for governor. I'm so sick of this bullshit. I'm not a liberal by any means, but I certainly dislike the fact that around here confederate statues abound like they won that damn war. I only visited home twice during the decade I was in the military. When I moved back here it was a slap in the face to a time 30 years earlier. NOW this!
