and then after everybody votes, the electoral college will decide who is president, even if it's not the one who had the most votes. it HAS happened.
.

That's a very scary possibility. Because if that happens the loser is going to be the guy whose fans have personal armories with assault rifles and body armor.

I must say, I am pleased that one particular candidate is seemingly moving one party in a direction I've wanted to see for many years. That candidate won't win the nomination, however.
The rest is incredibly depressing.

There is one candidate I really like and would love to see win, but I don't think its going to happen. I think that person would steer us is the proper direction.

Teddy Roosevelt isn't running.

An ill informed, disengaged electorate is exactly why we have this situation. Unfortunately, it will not be a wake up call. Instead it will only further disenchant voters and power will continue to consolidate at the top. This country is merely getting what it has asked for.

That's because the establishment is in no way into a 3rd parties or really changing the status quo. If we were able to get some sort of single transferable voting in place the political landscape in this country would change pretty dramatically.

Candidates on the fringes would become more viable. Voters could cast their first vote for somebody they actually wanted instead of ignoring that person because the media has told them they can't win. The ideas of people like Ron Paul, Ralph Nader, and Bernie Sanders (although he is still making waves now) would become a lot more important.

I also think the level of discourse would have to increase as well. All of a sudden candidates would have to campaign based on their merits and ideas for the future instead of against the boogie man across the isle.

Too bad it'll never happen :(

Sometimes I play with the idea of moving up to Canadia and trying to become a Canadian. (misspelling intentional). Nelson, Kelowna, or somewhere up near Vancouver would be nice. Squamish maybe? That would be really hard for me to do at this time in life, though.

My considerations would not only be political, but also preferred climate and surroundings.

Kinda sad that so many are considering such moves in light of the politics here.

I'm here to stay. I have lived through administrations I loved, and administrations I hated, but we always pull through.

i would be interested in going the opposite direction. that is....someplace warmer, but not a third world dictatorship-ish.

I would consider that, but it is too cold in VA for me.

I guess maybe the crazies have always been here, there just wasn't 24 hr news and the internet to give them a platform. But some of the stuff that has been going on over the last few years really has me worried about the future of the country.

we're not the same country anymore. we don't stand for the same ethics anymore. we are not the shining beacon of freedom anymore. and maybe we haven't been for a while, but in recent years it has been virtually admitted by our government/establishment.

i don't think i can go farther than that without becoming very political.
