not to play the "who can one up the other".....but i didn't think i'd see the end of the 60's.
brezhnev, andropov, etal.....were NOTHING compared to Nakita Kruschev. when he was pounding his SHOE on the podium screaming how they (USSR) were going to destroy Amerika....and then they installed nuclear missles in cuba....and then.....holy jeebuz we were scared. we did nuclear drills in school. several friends dads had fall out shelters in the back yard.
Ronnie was a loose cannon for sure. but the showdown between Nakita and JFK was earth shaking.

just sayin'wave0

Reminds me, herd on the radio the other day, about Cruze: Cuban Mistress Crisis.

And poling.

"U.S. overseas defense sales reached the second-highest end-of-year figure in Pentagon history after $46.6 billion worth of hardware was sold in fiscal year 2015, with military officials citing the wars against the Islamic State militant group as the driving force behind the significant increase."

Who still thinks things are going to change for the better?

Don't worry, bro. We're gonna have a big beautiful wall with a cute little bird sitting on top of it.

Clearly we need more hope, then things will change.

The 70's were also a scary time. Terrorism, b

As long as people throw up their hands and say nothing will change, nothing will change. Doing something doesn't guarantee change, but doing nothing guarantees the status quo.
Preach it brothuh!

Right on!

True. But we don't have the status quo, record profits are being made :thu:

Also, doing something gave us super-delegates.

As much as I hate all this partisan fighting / stalemate shit, we will persevere. We always have. Doesn't really matter who wins or loses, half the country will rejoice, half will be pissed off and resentful. Rinse and repeat.

Maybe we should revisit the monarchy concept, or a dictatorship. You know, for the stability.

yea....that'd be a great idea. oh wait, that's what we started this country to get away from.
i like the no party idea. rule #1: get the fuck over yourself. rule #2: it ain't about you or your power. it's about the people that elected you, that expect you to NOT take us down the rabbit hole.

but that's never going to happen because there's too much money is the system as it is. and it just keeps getting bigger and bigger.

Idk. The revolutionary terrorists jumped the gun, really.

Most of the other colonies obtained independence within a century and did so without the bloodshed of civil war and slavery.

And they ended up with less archaic constitutions, too.

With citizenships with broader personal freedoms.
