You know what? Fuck Florida. I don’t know the specifics of this case. They could have said that the officer wasn’t at fault and gave the family nothing. Or found the officer at fault and did something appropriate. $4 (yes, FOUR) tells the family that they are not worth shit. According to the story, the weapon the man was said to be holding was found in his BACK POCKET.

Jury awards $4 to family of black man killed by sheriff’s deputies in Fla.

The news is crazy pants today. Trade wars, stupid pardons for Martha Stuart and The guy who tried to sell Obama’s senate seat(Both contestants on the Apprentice, btw). Something about cohens shredded documents not actually being shredded.

:ewh:
I'll just leave this here.

Dinesh D’Souza was prosecuted by Preet Bharara.
Martha Stewart was prosecuted by James B. Comey.
Rod R. Blagojevichwas prosecuted by Patrick J. Fitzgerald, a close friend and colleague of Comey.

That’s interesting, but I think it’s more likely a dog-whistle for Manafort, Cohen, etc: “Keep your mouth shut and I’ll pardon you”. To me, it’s the essence of obstruction of justice...

Trump makes Pence watch him signing pardons to make sure he knows how to do it.

Are you attempting to refute my point? Because you don’t seem to be doing it.

The average American and even a good number of the founders were Christian to some degree, or at least sympathetic to a Christian worldview more or less in line with mainstream Protestantism.

The founders that were deists simply didn't believe in a personal God who listens to or answers prayers. period. They lived in a Christian era, used some religious language, but were the 18th century equivalent to atheists today. This is a fact regardless of whatever you're arguing.

Lol.

The amount of “pagan” practices that the slaves injected into Protestant churches rivals the amount of paganism folded into the church from European sources.

Yes, most Pentecostal rituals have their roots in West African Voudon (voodoo) religious practices

or at least sympathetic to a Christian worldview more or less in line with mainstream Protestantism.

Protestantism in America became a much more intellectual belief system, esp. at institutions like Harvard Divinity School, Yale Divinity School, Princeton Theological Seminary, and Union Theological Seminary. Their views would be completely abhorrent to modern evangelical Christians. Also beliefs in the "rapture" and end times that cause modern evangelicals to dismiss concerns about climate change or preserving liveable conditions on earth did not exist 200 years ago. Those are all 20th century inventions.
