New Yamaha RevStar line

I want to see a carved top variant that fully bridges the obvious connection to the SG series.

I’m expecting these to have a relatively lighter weight because they don’t have the carved top. Also, I doubt Yamaha would design new guitars that directly compete with the SG. These seem to be aimed at Gibson’s SG.

Then how about a thinline version! That would be quite cool with the P-90s or the pseudo-Filtertronned model...even with the Bigsby.

Take 20% off for MAP, and they're still too expensive. I look forward to finding them used in 2017.

I don't know.

For some reason, this mentality feels wrong. Or at least part of the problem.

It becomes a little hard for something to succeed, when there is a group of people who are looking to capitalize on the failure.

Not saying that Yamaha can't suck up a failure, but when applied to smaller builders or mom and pop stores, it's not cool IMO.

I was thinking used, not blowout. But I can see how you got that.

I was hoping for something like that. Aside from body thickness they’ve gotten as close to the SG body shape as they can without inviting a trademark lawsuit. Guild did the same thing with their S-100 Polara—the shape of an SG, the weight of a Les Paul.

So the low-end models are made from nato wood? Does that mean those aren't available in Warsaw Pact countries?

I wish I could get the classic Yamaha racing strips

That would be just about right and it would look like my first dirtbike

The 420 in your shade of blue (more or less :embarrassed: ) is $499 :)

I am digging the fire red one. Also, the 420 model (huh huh...uh...huhuhuhuhhh) and above have the "dry" switch, which engages what I gather to be similar to the Reverend bass contour if I understand correctly (big "if").

My desire to know more is being beaten down by my desire to not listen to 30+ minutes of Chapman wankin…err, playing guitar.

I can see how his playing isn't everyones bag, but I usually focus more on how the gear sounds and what they say more than the playing. And these guitars do sound good.

Thanks to their vids I've bought some really good gear over the last few years.

And I like how they're usually quite honest about the gear they review.

Seems like a ton of guitar for the money. Yamaha fit and finish, good parts and hardware. Should be great.
