Good luck. I'll be thinking of you and sending out positive vibes.ok...Jazz History final went OK. Not perfect but it should still be an A. Need to write the paper for that class now.
Today is my guitar Jury. In 15 minutes I need to:
- Get recital approval for my Senior Recital - I have a preliminary program and charts for all of my originals
- play my prepared chord-melody arrangement of Out of Nowhere
- play Dizzy Gillespie's Be-Bop for my Chamber Jazz final, which was just tacked onto my jury
- play two of the three tunes I had to learn with the faculty - E.S.P. and Yes and No by Wayne Shorter and/or Countdown by John Coltrane. I really hope I don't have to play the Coltrane tune. I already had to do Giant Steps last semester.
- and they are supposed to ask me to play some theory stuff and its always the same shit. Hopefully, we won't bother this time around.
I'll report back in 4 hours....
Thanks!Good luck. I'll be thinking of you and sending out positive vibes.
My students have no place to complain compared to your load. Thanks!
This is typical of music students in general. My wife made the comment that it’s more about time management than education. My students have no place to complain compared to your load.
Sadly, that is the case in a lot of education. This is typical of music students in general. My wife made the comment that it’s more about time management than education.
I had to try and remember what you were referring to. I could probably make an mp3Mark will the death metal assignment you did ever be published?

Last night was the jazz small groups concert, which went well. I was in the last two groups of the evening, with the guitar combo playing an unaccompanied trio version of "Days of Wine and Roses" and my song "Displacemonk" from Sunday's video. Then my trio played "Boo Boo's Birthday" by Thelonius Monk, another of my originals called "Waltz for the Louises" and "Poinciana" by Ahmad Jamal. It was almost like a short recital for me since I was featured in the trio and ran both groups since both directors couldn't make it to the concert. I decided to play the PRS, my 1976 Deluxe Reverb and the small pedalboard that you see in the pic below and it was probably the happiest I've been with my guitar sound in that room, mainly because I'm using my own amp (and not the DV Jazz).
I've already had my theory final and Biology has wrapped up so I just have the two history classes (20th century music and Jazz) and my jury to worry about next week. And turn in both of my history class papers.
Working on recital tunes:
Still haven't gotten all of my grades.
So far this is next semester:

"Human Behavioral Ecology" is because I am 2 units short in my science area. . Jazz Pedagogy and World Music are my last two music classes and the rest will be performance-related. I'm hoping that this will be an easier semester even though it ends with my senior recital. The nice thing is that I'm only going 2 or maybe 3 days a week instead of all five like I have been for the last two-and-a-half years.
You have lots of stuff in your front pants pockets. If I were your stylist I would recommend bringing a little backpack and putting all of those keys and stuff into the backpack before the performance. Undoubtedly you'll say "Rickenvox, you're just anal", to which I'd reply that I'm actually just a core sample of humanity. The tip of the iceberg. If I noticed it, and I'm not unique in humanity, then 50 other people noticed it but were too polite to tell you.
Next episode we'll talk about the break in your trousers and how that standard is changing.
