What's that table all about? Are you taking a minesweeper class?

Pretty much. Its a matrix for all of the transpositions, inversions, retrogrades and retrograded inversions for a 12 tone row. Because music is math. I guess.

Yeah, I guess it is in a lot of ways. How much longer do you have before you're done? Seems like you should be getting close.

I'm done with my Bachelors this spring. I'm going to take a break before the masters to earn some money and pay some bills.

Yeah. This took a year longer than planned and life got expensive.

I can guess exactly what you're paying - it's a lot. And taking less classes is more expensive because it's not that much cheaper and you have to pay for additional semesters in the end.

Well, it is Cal state so it is really the cheapest thing out there that offers what I need but between student loans, paying out of pocket for intercession classes and not being available to work as much as I need it's been tough. Going part-time would ultimately make it more expensive for me.

damn, long list. Minor Swing - nice.
between the two playlists I have 107 songs to know. Luckily the jazz one is cumulative and I've gotten 103% and 122.5% on the first two tests so I know most of it already. Many of my classmates will be lucky to pass the class though. Lots of people (including grad sutdents) who just didn't put the time in and are paying the price now.

Yes I can imagine. Getting to know that list in non school life takes years.

The thing the younger students don’t get is that this is really a “job”. I’ve had to do way less reasonable stuff as an adult while working. Just get to work and itll happen. Ultimately music history classesnarent hard if you just do the work. You don’t have to be a great analytical mind or an incredible talent to do this stuff. You just have to put one foot in front of the other on a daily basis.

So, I had my guitar combo concert yesterday. This was from soundcheck:

We had the big-band concert last Tuesday. I played OK. Not super happy with my performance. The final combo concert is this Thursday. I have my theory final on Wednesday. Papers are due next week (both history classes), and I have finals for both of them and my jury next week. And I guess big band class has a final too, where we have to play the Dizzy Gillespie tune "Be-Bop" from memory. Then the semester is done. In the meantime, I have an out of town gig in San Diego on Saturday which will impact my study time.
