Like an Aztec sacrifice to the automotive gods they are cutting the heart of my truck

Your Dad-in-law is awesome That motor is gonna purr like a kitten.
What are you going to get him for Father's Day? Best be something cool.

Reminds me that I need to get back to work on my 57. I have a set of Haneline gauges to install, and I'm giving some serious thought to replacing the rock crusher with a Turbo 350. Every time I drive it I'm reminded that it's a lot of work, shifting and steering and trying to hold a cup of coffee, all at the same time.

A buddy of mine is editor for Custom Classic Trucks magazine. I'll send him a link to the forum, he's a guitar/bass player, so this should hold some special interest.

I went from a 327/Muncie 4spd to a 283/powerglide in my '57. It was a nice change

today is "engine bay day". Going to push the truck out into the parking lot, pressure wash the bay and then paint it. :)

Cool! Looking forward to seeing the finished product. Although i'm sure you are too.

It was drying in the last few pics. A little more paint and the engine can go back in

I love it when a plan (truck) comes together!

Oh, how about a new smiley?

Wow. That looks great. Looks like the day it rolled out. If I ever get the bug to have a toy car again, I'll be out. :).

Thanks! Up close it's not so impressive since I did it with rattle cans of Rustoleum spray enamel but it makes me very happy to have it clean. It's definitely going to be the best looking part of the truck for a while :embarrassed:
