Like an Aztec sacrifice to the automotive gods they are cutting the heart of my truck

Just heard back from the radiator shop that I need to have mine re-cored and now I guess we get to flush the block out since there was so much crap in both the radiator and the heater core that I brought down for repair. Just added about $300 to the job. Thank god I'm not paying for labor on this or I'd have spent more this week than I did on the truck in the first place

Crap... Truck mojo. It's always like that. The more you dig, the more shit shows up needing repair or replacement.
Maybe you should have started a reality show, "This Old Truck"!

my father-in-law will. He's probably done a few thousand of them over the years.

Good deal. They're not hard, just have to take your time and keep track of the parts. Blowing out all the passages with Carb Cleaner and compressed air are very important. Gotta get the junk out!

Lookin' good Mark. Thanks for posting the pics.

Thanks! Todays "work day" is probably going to be cancelled due to birthday part prep for my son and a sick daughter :(

Maybe I can go paint the engine if the weather is nice enough.

Reminds me that I need to get back to work on my 57. I have a set of Haneline gauges to install, and I'm giving some serious thought to replacing the rock crusher with a Turbo 350. Every time I drive it I'm reminded that it's a lot of work, shifting and steering and trying to hold a cup of coffee, all at the same time.

A buddy of mine is editor for Custom Classic Trucks magazine. I'll send him a link to the forum, he's a guitar/bass player, so this should hold some special interest.

I have a turbo 350 sitting there in the shop for this truck but thats a project for another year....I want ot have this rolling again in a few weeks to get it out of the way of their real work once the cars start shipping again. The powerglide will have to do :)

He painted it and put the carb on it over the weekend while I was doing kiddie b-day parties.
