Like an Aztec sacrifice to the automotive gods they are cutting the heart of my truck

Now that's a clean engine bay!

Over the weekend my father-in-law fabricated an alternator bracket since I have such a mixed bag of intake, exhaust, header and block none of the original mounting points lined up. He also had to rework the spark plug heat shields since the replacement parts that I got from the restoration place weren't right. A few more small parts and we can put the engine back in :)

IIRC the original alt bracket was a fairly long piece that caused the alt to shake and wobble to the point that the belt could jump off. Any fabbed bracket would be far better!

It is nice that my engine is sitting on a stand in the middle of a commercial fab shop :)

New engine paint adds 37.8 hp

You know what happens now Mark, the underhood stuff looks so good you have to move on to other areas... you're hooked now!

Nice work!

She must get her looks from her mom, eh?

I wish I was totally responsible for it but my father-in-law did most of the work. I wish I could move on to the body but I don't think its in the budget for this year. :(

You don't have to go even this far. Just spiff it up a bit.

thats a short bed....those are more desirable than the truck I have. I was actually thinking of doing it in the yellowish looking primer like this:

and letting it stay that way for a while...I've seen a few like that before. The body work is going to be the expensive part though.
