Give me something to watch on Netflix

Gotham was fun. And keeps up the quality pretty well all the way through. The guy who plays Penguin is excellent.

And Sean Pertwee is quite capable of doing the Sean Pertwee accent, thank you very much :embarrassed:

On a similar vein, Werewolf By Night is a one off Halloween special on Disney+. It's supposed to be the MCU but is a total homage to the Universal Monsters universe. Surprised someone hasn't been sued.

Westworld season 4 was mostly slow paced filler. Even the music was plodding and dull. They could have condensed the whole 8 episodes into a 90-120 minute movie. What a drag.

Star Wars Andor is a slow-paced story as well but I absolutely love it. The plot is always advancing, unlike WW4

I started watching Rob Zombie's The Munsters and I had to turn it off less than 15 minutes in. It was the worst shit I've ever seen, and I do watch some total shit. It was unbearably bad.

I gave up after the dinner date scene. That movie will be remembered as the nadir of Sheri Moon Zombie’s career, and her career doesn’t have any highs. Rob Zombie seems to have planned it as some kind of batshit art piece but I don’t understand why he thought anybody would want to watch it. I don’t think anybody is going to invest in a Rob Zombie movie again.

I enjoyed the novel. Will give it a watch at some point.

My wife and daughter wanted to watch something scary. I’m not a terribly big fan of the scary, but agreed to this one because it was described as a comedy. It had moments that felt like parody and some that felt like it was trying to be serious. Set in the 80s with a stranger things style score. I’d be curious to hear your opinion on it. I can’t decide if it’s brilliant or really bad, but I did enjoy it.

Gangs of London (AMC+) desperately wants to be a modern era Peaky Blinders. It's not up to the same overall standard but it's not terrible. Solid B, maybe even a B+.

It is absurdly violent though. Also, Michelle Fairley.

Available on HBO Max and other services.
The origin story of Batman's Alfred Pennyworth, a former special-forces soldier living in London.

I watched the first season of Pennyworth and enjoyed it (I like the acting and the gruesome alternative history sixties UK), but then forgot about it. Now I've got two more seasons to watch. Thanks for the reminder!

I really wanted to like it too. I like the original tv show, and I am open-minded to Rob Zombie movies (I have big love for The Devil's Rejects and I also like Lords of Salem, although I think I'm in the minority there :embarrassed: ).

But it's just unwatchably bad-bad.

It was so bad that it's the only reason I watched as much as I could stand. Could it keep getting worse? yes.

Not sure why it was even made in the first place other than perhaps someone threw money at him to do it. It just didn't seem to have a reason to exist.

I really enjoyed The Outfit. Outstanding acting and production. There are a couple of stupid plot problems, but I'll forgive them.

I watched German series Perfume, and it's quite good. A bit bleak but not as bleak as French murder mystery series. Speaking of which, if you have never watched Black Spot (Zone Blanche), watch it now! it'sexcellent

Any of you watching High School? It's a coming-of-age drama about the teenage Tegan & Sara and it has a banging 90s alternative soundtrack: Pixies, Slowdive, Lush, Spiritualized, Pumpkins, Veruca Salt, Breeders, Eve's Plum in the first couple of episodes alone. It's packed to the gills with cracking tunes. Clea DuVall is the director/showrunner. I'm really enjoying it.

I watched Black Spot. It was way better than I expected, but I've been waiting forever for it to continue. Doesn't look good on that front.

Fuck a doodle do!
Derry Girls season 3 made it to Netflix. Just finished it. It isn't as funny as the first two seasons - some of the charm has worn off, and the character Sister George Michael is criminally wasted.

It also gets a bit heavy.

Wife and I watched "From Scratch" with Zoe Saldana... and at first I was like "where the fuck is this boring ass romance show going"....

... but I stuck with it....

... and... fuckers. I'm a grown ass man... don't need to be weeping over a stupid show like this.... but it hit too close to home.
