Give me something to watch on Netflix

Baking Impossible is fun, and I say this as someone who never watches baking or competitive reality shows. The idea is to combine a baker with an engineer in a team to make various silly items, all if which much operate and simultaneously be edible. For example in the first episode they have to build an entirely edible boat that can sail a course (do not make the mistake I did and assume that means a life sized boat :embarrassed:)

It suffers a bit from trying too hard to inject drama, but the engineering aspect keeps it fun and engaging.

Sounds like Legomasters. Cool concept but they try too hard to make it dramatic.

Watched The Taking of Pelham 123 on Criterion. First watch for me, somehow, and I haven’t seen any remakes. It’s a really fun and watchable movie. Definitely on the shortlist of essential 70s NYC movies. Impressive roundup of great character actors. Really great costuming. A little cringe-worthy racism and homophobia. But I suppose that too is 70s NYC.

I’d imagine that @Motorik has seen it more than once.

EDIT: Also a truly great one word ending.

Alright, who's gonna give me their HBO Max log in so I can watch Dune? We had a trial and it expired and I can't find where I can do another trial. lol

Barely watched any horror all October.

Now it’s 2 November, and I’m watching A Nightmare on Elm Street.

I hate Johnny Depp and I can’t wait until he suffers a horrible onscreen death.

You're right, and I absolutely love it. It's such a sweaty, grubby film: NYC seems so shitty and on the verge of collapse, and the people are incompetent, exasperated, or irascible. Matthau and Shaw are perfect in their respective roles.

Another couple from that period that I really recommend are The Seven-Ups and Across 110th Street.

Speaking of Adrien Brody...

He made a great guest appearance in the current season of Succession. Which has been absolutely brilliant and one of the most entertaining things on TV.

I've been watching the original, BBC version of the sitcom "Ghosts" on HBO Max. It's entertaining. I saw the first episode of the American re-make on CBS and didn't think it was nearly as good as the BBC version. CBS replaced the caveman character with a native American, which eliminated one of my favorite characters from the cast.

His episode on Dice is as good as any half hour sit com I've seen. It's about him and his process of method acting as Andrew Dice Clay.
Him sneaking into Dice's room to see how 'Dice does the fucking' is worthwhile.
This trailer doesn't do it justice.

Or you can watch the whole show now.

Of course nothing is as good when its over sold, but it's pretty great imo.
Also, Dice on Showtime had some top notch episodes.

I’m 4 episodes into season 1 of succession. It’s slow as fuck and all they’ve established so far is that the family is nothing but a bunch of deplorable cunts, the company has a big problem, the camera work is annoying as fuck, and did I mention the camera work is annoying as fuck.

They could have done all 4 episodes in one hour. It’s basically a high powered The Office set in a world where the F word still has power.

Does the pace pick up? Does he story grow into something interesting? I’m ready to give up unless there’s a change coming.

I usually love long form shows from HBO but this one blows so far and I had such high hopes.

It does start slow, and it does get a lot better, and has evolved a fair bit from season to season. I like it a lot.

However. It is a dark-as-fuck satire, and smart as a whip. But if you’re hoping that any of these characters will grow and evolve or show any kind of self-reflection and someday turn out to be decent or likeable human beings... then that ain’t never gonna happen.

As long as it develops, I’ll stick with it.

Does the amateurish shaky cam and “dramatic” zoom-in work go away?

I have seen some really stupid movies before, but the new Netflix "Red Notice" is breathtakingly horrible.

I started watching "Werewolves of the Third Reich" yesterday. I expected trash, I never thought I'd only make it to two or three minutes in.

I'm marathoning Seinfield right now (currently season 1) i watched it from the first episode when it originally came out and haven't seen any sin ce it ended. I forgot how great it was and it still holds up.

I broke down and bought the first season of Resident Alien on Amazon. Pretty good, but I'm not sure $17 good.
