College football jam.....

No way Notre Dame is the best team in the country, whether they are undefeated or not. They could barely beat Michigan St.

.

"Barely Beat"?

After Notre Dame, the second team I root for is Michigan State and I was embarrassed for them because of the dominant, manhandling, beat down, that the Irish put on the Spartans. Spartans never even got in the endzone and the game was never even close. (Final Score 20-3).

Beginning of the season: ''NOTRE DAME OVERRATED, TOUGHEST SCHEDULE IN NATION INB4 CRUMBLE LOL!"

End of the season: "NOTRE DAME OVERRATED, WEAK SCHEDULE!"

No one that knows anything about football ever though ND had a tough schedule.

WVU managed to find their offense again this weekend, but still found a way to lose to Oklahoma.

That's 5 straight losses. :embarrassed:

And from the utter lack of any response to my post, the complete lack of caring regarding the Pac-12 is confirmed. ;-)

To be honest I read and it's not that I don't care, Im just not sure what you were getting at. It's not that I don't care, they are just not very relevant this year. Maybe next year they will be. I think you have more personal feelings about it than I do. To me it's not more personal than the stock market. I try to pick based on what I see without any emotion or sentimentality.

Yeah you are absolutely right. I look at it from a loyal fan's point of view and it is all personal. I get that you look at it very differently. And you know I think that is ok. You look at classic cars differently from the way I do as well. Different strokes. I still thought it was somewhat relevant as they took down the team that took down Oregon. But maybe only relevant from a Pac-12 point of view.

I never claimed ND had a tough schedule...in fact I pointed out to anyone who said anything about all the ranked opponents they had faced that by season's end there'd probably be only one left with a ranking. I might be off on that...I think two might be ranked now. If they hadn't gotten that sham call against Stanford, they'd be a one loss team, but Notre Dame is much better than I gave them credit for. While I think Alabama will decimate them, I also think their defense would give them a very good shot of beating Oregon.

On paper, they really should beat USC next weekend. However, it's a big rivalry and weird things happen...plus they won't have the friendly environment of South Bend (though I wouldn't call the Coliseum a very intimidating atmosphere).

I'm a big fan of the Big 10, but they're completely irrelevant this year. Their best team, OSU, is bowl-ineligible, and even with an undefeated record, Ohio State doesn't look terribly impressive.

I think OSU has been winning on coaching for the most part.

Even if they lose against USC (which they very well could), I wouldn't dismiss them completely. The computers ranked them number 2 before Oklahoma I think.

Actually, though I almost never root for USC, I would love this time to see the Trojans beat up on ND. Just so the rest of the country doesn't write the Pac-12 off as irrelevant.

I strongly dislike ND, but that's how it goes for them every single year. Whether they deserve it or not, they just don't (usually) get credit. I'll give it to them now: they've done a great job against the schedule they had this year (I'm not making a judgement against it one way or the other. I don't know enough about college ball outside if IL/IN to do that) and I am happy for them and their fans. I also hope it brings some good things for the greater SB community. They need it.

This one goes out to Baimun:

Notre Dame’s football program this week became the first to earn a No. 1 ranking in the Bowl Championship Series standings while having the nation’s top graduation rate.

The Fighting Irish had a 97-percent NCAA Graduation Success Rate in the most recent period. That’s more than 20 points higher than the results of any of the other top-five BCS programs.

The team’s Academic Progress Rate, a more accurate NCAA measure of players’ real-time academic performance, is 970, putting it in the top 70 to 80 percent of football programs nationally.
