The second tasting of #12 didn't go as well, but munching on peanut butter filled pretzels may have been kinda' dumb.
Saturday had me returning to some Four Roses Single Barrel Limited Edition. Anyone who likes Booker's should like the Single Barrel. It is smoother and more complex, yet still has a nice punch thanks to the 100 to 107 proof range.

I went to an event last night put on by one of our big liquor distributors in the area. I tried the Angels Envy rye whiskey for the first time. It is absolutely a game changer for rye whiskey. It's expensive at about $70 for a fifth. But it's worth it if you can find it as it's a small batch and tastes nothing short if incredible. Strong maple in the nose and hints of ginger and citrus with a buttery finish of bananas foster. Holy shit. I'm not exaggerating.

Russell's Reserve Rye is back on the shelves, so I had to grab a bottle. I remember liking it quite a bit last year. This time it came across a little mild in flavor but with plenty of heat. That should change a little now that it has been opened.
I couldn't find Angel's Envy Rye at the main maga liquor store, so it remains elusive.

I haven't had Russell's Rye recently. My guess would be that they aren't aging it as long as they did before. I know they didn't plan for the booming popularity of rye, so they're probably cutting the time down to meet demand.
The Angel's Envy Rye is gonna be tough to find. You'd probably be best-served to call around if you want to find it. I know they did send some cases to Texas and a few other states. We got less than 200 cases in Tennessee.
