Achtung! Bourbon.

Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon. drool0 This is some very tasty bourbon. Mine is labeled 100 proof, and the burn is there but not over powering. It has sweet, complex flavors and a veeeery long finish. I've enjoyed their Limited Edition Small Batch, but the Single Barrel is incredible. At $38 it isn't cheap compared to our favorite Buffalo Trace, but it is still a good bargain for such a high end bourbon.

I still haven't had Four Roses or Dickel, it just isn't at my liquor store very often. I'm still enjoying the last of my bottle of Booker's... the love affair continues.

I've been wanting to try Four Roses but haven't seen it in my local ABC stores. I still want to try Black Maple Hill and Angel's Envy sometime.
I'm not willing to splurge for the high dollar bourbons like Pappy. I've tasted just about all of them out there and for the dollar, nothing still beats Woodford Reserve. Smooth as silk. I like Rare Breed just almost as much because it's almost 100 proof and I prefer a little more bite, but flavor-wise, Woodford is "the shit".
I will say, one that has almost as good of a flavor is Russel's Reserve. That's a Wild Turkey subsidiary and is aged 10 years. Excellent and under $40.

That's probably my #1. It was our first barrel our club bought, and it's still been my favorite so far. When I was in Japan, I came across this variety of Four Roses that doesn't get distributed to the US. It was very tasty. Similar to the small batch but still unique.

I don't think I've ever tried that one.

I have been enjoying the shit out of the bottle of Aberlour (sp?) that IamSeaDevil got me for my birthday though.

I had some Jim Beam this evening...mixed with a hearty helping of lemonade. Some bourbons are meant to be enjoyed straight and some are not. Jim Beam is a fine mixing bourbon.

The Dickel Tennessee whiskys (he removed the "e" for some reason) sound tempting. I read some encouraging reviews on both the #8 and #12.

I actually don't mind Beam neat, or with just a little ice. Come to kind of appreciate it, in fact.

George Dickel Tennessee Whiskey #12 vs George Dickel Tennessee Whiskey #8:

I dropped by the downtown mega liquor store for a bottle of Dickel #12. Testing will commence tomorrow.

I also spotted a few bottles of Russell's Reserve Rye, which has become rare the last year. I better snap one up before they're all gone this time. I remember really enjoying it last year and wonder if I'll still put it at the top of my rye list after trying so many since then.

You guys are giving me some good ideas here. For my birthday I had TWO family members give me $50 gift cards to BevMo so once my stocks deplete a bit I'm going shopping for some stuff I normally can't afford :)

for the record, i bought #8 instead of the recommended #12 only because it was out of stock. #8 is nice. i look forward to trying the #12.
