2019 Concert thread

They’re fantastic.

It was indeed a phenomenal show. They were on fire - despite the fact that there were probably only 200 people there. More people need to pick up on these guys and how good they are...

well, i was thinking of seeing Bob Seger last month (his last outing on the road/retiring), but then i found that the tickets ranged between $240 and $350, so i decided to just stay home and get some old records off the shelf.

Salt air, stale beer, scorched rosewood. I’ll return to the mainland Monday with a full report for you.

Oh shit? It’s a bunch of metal on a cruise ship. I didn’t read closely and thought it was just some terrible festival at a disused speedway or some shit. Gah. If anything justifies a mutiny.

Those rock and roll fantasy camp cruise boats seem like hell. Rock and roll is to be accomplished in dingy clubs between the hours of 8PM and 2AM. More than three bands on a bill and you’re playing with yourself. Frankly, a max capacity of more than 1,000 people starts to make things less awesome.

I'm definitely too old for a multi-day thing, even if it's at a bar, not a "fest", etc, but this is tempting. I would really like to see dead congregation live

that metal cruise thing is equal parts hilarious horrifying and awesome

Reggie’s is a fairly comfortable venue if one must do that sort of thing.

Good to know, thanks! The spleen wants what the spleen wants.

I figure I'll be able to arrange for semi-frequent metamucil and nap breaks if needed

Just scored tix to that Better Oblivion Community Center mini supergroup that put out a nice record and is currently a very hot item.

Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt coming up on Monday night with my wife in Boise at the Morrison Center (nicer theatre at BSU). Acoustic show.
Nice. They used to do a thing 10-15 years ago with Joe Ely and Guy Clark, and the four of them would be up there trading off songs. I saw a couple of those shows in Nashville.

It's kind of shameful that I've never seen Lyle Lovett since we have so much in common - same major at the same university, same state. And of course, devastating good looks. :embarrassed:

I did see Hiatt play an electric set not too long ago, and it was excellent.

Should be a great show, have fun. :thu:

My wife and I have seen Lyle several times over the years. Always a great show and great entertainer. And it has always been with his "Large Band". I think it will be nice to have the more intimate setting and acoustic set. Looking forward to it.

Well, bummer. Had to cancel our drive to Boise and donate our Lovett/Hiatt tix to the center to give to someone. They apparently look for mom's with kids or elderly or whatever. Snowstorm is too much to risk travel 2.5 hours each way in overly hazardous conditions, with game on the road, etc.

Failure and Swervedriver coming up in April. Prob gonna get tickets to that one.
